My Very Vegas Vacation: A 17-Year-Old's Experience in Las Vegas

Aaron Berke, one of our Summit seniors, took a trip to Las Vegas earlier in February with his mother and his fellow classmate Nick Santos. His account has been published on petergreenberg.com, an insider's guide to travel. We're delighted to share his insightful article with you.

Las Vegas has never been effectively promoted as a family-friendly destination -- and for good reason. The city has never positioned itself that way. If you happen to be under the age of 18, you might be out of luck entirely. You're too young to legally gamble, to drink, or to attend many of the shows. But that is beginning to change. We recently sent our 17-year-old reporter, Aaron Robert Berke (and his mom) to Las Vegas to discover the experiences beyond gambling, alcohol, and x-rated shows.

Student Council Flea Market A Huge Success

Summit's Upper School Student Council extends a huge thanks to all of our parents for taking the time to clean out so many of their closets -- this year's flea market was a huge success. Class representatives of the Student Council are currently in discussion about projects to support at the school. We'll keep you posted. In large photo below (left to right): Travis Nair and Jake Hassan, Student Council Leadership and flea market organizers, and Wanda Rivera, Student Council Advisor.

They Did It! Mystery Solved

On Sunday, April 2, students from the Upper School attended a Mystery Room event! Twenty students, chaperoned by Brandon Lomuto and Tobi Thompson kicked off the afternoon with a pizza lunch and were then split into two groups of ten. One group entered the "Cafe Room" and the other group went into the "Bio Lab."

With only one hour to find clues and solve puzzles students worked collaboratively to beat the clock and escape the room! Each student played an integral role in the process and both groups successfully escaped before the hour was up. The event was a fun exercise in teamwork and collaboration while helping students step out of their comfort zones.
