IN 20 MINUTES, LEARN MORE.
The Art of Writing
at Summit
Writing is sometimes seen as the "flip side" of reading. It is often assumed that proficient readers equal proficient writers, too. And, while reading and writing are considered complementary skills that develop in parallel, they do not necessarily go hand in hand. The bottom line: writing differs from reading.
At Summit, we know that each skill requires its own dedicated instruction -- what improves reading does not always improve writing. Along with our teachers, speech and language therapists have formulated unique strategies that strengthen writing skills, helping our students formulate their own thoughts, organize them, and create a written record of them using proper spelling and grammar.
Join us to learn how it's done at Summit.
Our presenters/topics include:
Nancy Morgenroth, Director of Admissions and Speech & Language Services
The Relationship Between Writing and Speech and Language
Summit's Writing Strategy
Semantic Mapping as a Means of Facilitating Written Organization
Elaborating Written Language
Reader Pre-Supposition Skills (Keeping Your Reader in Mind)
