IN 20 MINUTES, LEARN MORE.

Introduced last school year, the Summit Parents' Association Small Talks feature is designed to respond to parents' questions and topics of interest in 20 minutes at the opening of selected PA meetings and will feature a Summit staff member. Parents can attend in person or via conference call.
Join us for 20 minutes and learn more.

Welcome to our first Small Talks feature of the 2016-17 school year. This meeting's subject is so BIG, we're making this Small Talk a double-header.

Thursday, October 20
9:15-9:55 AM
(includes 20-minute presentation and 20 minutes of Q&As)

John Trainor, Director of Technology
Sherri Bordoff, Lower School Clinic Director
Allison Edwards, Upper School Clinic Director

The Internet, Social Media,
and Technology:
Your Child's Digital Life

It's hard to keep up with the latest apps that kids, tweens, and teens are using. Just when you've figured out Facebook, they've moved on to something else like Snapchat or Kik.

Hear about what we're talking about and doing with your children at Summit to be safe, responsible, and respectful when using the Internet, social media, and technology. Join us to learn about continuing the dialogue at home and building on your children's experiences at school.

What will be covered:
  • Internet safety -- video chatting, cyberbullying, and oversharing
  • Social media -- going beyond Facebook to new apps
  • Parent resources -- best practices and latest information
To attend in person:
All PA meetings are held in the conference room at Summit's Upper School and begin promptly at 9:15 a.m.

To attend via conference call:
We suggest that attendees call in five minutes prior to the start of the meeting.
Dial-In Number:  712-451-0200
Access Code: 750144# (remember to include the pound (#) sign)
Please note that our conference call service has been upgraded and a new telephone number and access code have been assigned (as noted above).

New feature: Call participants will be able to participate in our Q&A segment. Instructions will be announced during the call. Please bear with us as we continue to learn how to use this technology to its fullest potential for everyone.

To submit topics of interest for future Small Talks:
Email your suggestion to Pamela Linnemann Goren, Parents' Association President, at gorenjo@yahoo.com.

Feel free to join us for the PA's general meeting
immediately following Small Talks
either in person or via the conference call.
