About Dr. Rahimeh Andalibian
For the past 15 years, Dr. Andalibian ("Dr. A") has worked as a licensed clinical psychologist in California, and now in New York conducting family therapy and group sessions with individuals, children, couples, and families. She earned her doctorate from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University in Los Angeles. She has worked with multidisciplinary teams conducting psychological evaluations and has provided therapy services for individuals, families, couples, adult groups, support groups, multifamily groups, narrative healing groups, trauma and loss groups, and DBT/Mindfulness groups. Dr. A owned and operated a cognitive learning center in southern California for over five years, specializing in the remediation of executive functioning skills, learning disabilities, dyslexia, and cognitive deficits. Her memoir, The Rose Hotel, was published in 2012, and is the story of her family's post-trauma resilience and healing.
It is with this systemic perspective that Dr. A works with her clients. She holds advanced certifications in family intervention and specializes in trauma work. Dr. A understands the family dynamics that are unique to individuals struggling with Asperger syndrome or Autism. She works with the entire family perspective in mind, even when working with individuals, and incorporates EMDR (a research-based, powerful, short-term therapy treating a wide range of traumatic incidents, which is highly effective for the treatment of chronic pain, phobias, depression, panic attacks, eating disorders and poor self-image, stress, anxiety, stage fright and performance anxiety, and recovery from sexual abuse), body-focused sensorimotor psychotherapy, trauma-focused CBT, body-mind-spirit mindfulness, and narrative work. Her experience in systemic intervention enables her to seek solutions to problem areas based on strengths, creating lasting changes that support the individual and the family as a whole. During the 2015-16 school year, Dr. A served as advisor to The Summit School's clinic team thanks to the support extended by Summit's Parents' Association and its parent members. The Summit School extends a special thanks to Nancy Lieberman,
Summit parent and Partner at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP & Affiliates, who has graciously coordinated Skadden's conference center and catering services for this special speaker's event.
