Harvest 2012 The vineyards are beginning to turn yellow and orange after delivering the most bountiful winegrape harvest in recent memory. Our Estate Sauvignon Blanc, hand-harvested in two lots in mid-September, has completed fermentation and is now barrel-aging at our facility in Sonoma. Duckhorn Wine Company also harvested over 55 tons of Beltane fruit for their Sauvignon Blanc. Most exciting of all was the harvest of our very first vintage of estate Zinfandel! Our 2012 Estate Zinfandel, dark, full and rich, is already barrel-aging and showing lots of blackberry jam and spice! We are looking forward to a fall 2013 release. See our harvest photo album here. Fall Produce
Its fig time! Figs, persimmons, Swiss chard & kale...all the fall produce is coming in. We have what looks to be a beautiful olive crop, and we are looking forward to a late November or early December olive harvest. United States Congressman Mike Thompson Visits We were honored to host a harvest dinner for our United States Congressman Mike Thompson earlier this month. Chef Greg Markey prepared a farm-fresh feast of home-grown ingredients, Winemaker Kevin Holt spoke about our wine and Angie, Autumn and Graciella looked after the party. We enjoyed sharing our wine with and getting to know Mike, his wife Janet and their friends and supporters from Washington. Dixie is a Star! Our own Dixie is featured as a Winery Dog in the current issue of SONOMA Magazine. Her true charm comes through brilliantly in the interview: "Stupid question, I'm a Blue Heeler." Unfortunately her agent said she was unavailable to comment for this newsletter. We're proud of you Dixie!
Beltane in NYC! For our first Beltane Ranch Oaks Club tasting event on the road, we packed our wine, olive oil, favorite local cheeses and more for New York City, where we hosted a party & tasting to celebrate 120 years as Beltane Ranch and the arrival of Beltane Ranch wine in New York state: Fresh oysters, skyline views, great friends and family! See the photos here. Come see us this Winter: New Games, Winter Gardens, Fire in the Fireplace...... Winter is a beautiful and cozy time to visit Sonoma Valley and Beltane Ranch. The stark winter landscapes and gardens offer lots to explore and the B&B (outfitted with new games and promising a fire) welcomes you back inside. Local sights, wineries and restaurants are open and happy to receive guests year-round. Our rates are the best of the year and in addition we are offering the below special. PS. Horse Shoes! Did you know we have a regulation horse shoe pit? Perfect game with a glass of wine or a cup of tea.
Group Getaways We've hosted several talented art groups, reunions and other fun group getaways. Here's photos from the Chris Sullivan Art Group who returned to Beltane this month for the second year in a row and enjoyed a wine tasting on the porch upon their arrival.
