This week is the annual emphasis on Middle District missions. While each church highlights local missions at a time that works best for it, through this week's daily emails we encourage you to learn of the incredible spiritual impact of these ministries and to pray for each of them. As God guides, you also may contribute through your church or through the "donate" button at the top of the Middle District website, www.mdba.org
This year's theme is:
"Declaring His glory in our neighborhoods and around the world."
It is based on Psalms 96:3: "Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous needs among all people."

How Can Africa Be Local Missions?
The Local Missions Offering is "local" in a couple of ways. The first is that the ministries that are highlighted are ministries that serve people in the primary region that Middle District serves: Powhatan, Chesterfield, Amelia, and parts of Southside Richmond. However, some of our ministry partners are ministries that have been started by our "local" people in our churches. This is the case with our African partnerships.
This offering helps two ministries that serve Africa:
Together for Tanzania focuses its ministry primarily through educating those who would not have an education without the help of this ministry. They also help churches, and provide medicine and equipment for the local hospital that serves the indigent.
Called to Serve seeks to minister to the needs of impoverished people with a goal to establish on-going relationships through practical teachings and earning the right to share their faith. Called to Serve also operates as a sending agency for short-term mission teams, and those contemplating long-term missionary service, but want hands-on experience before making such an important career decision.
Pray for the leaders of these organizations that God will continue to open doors for the Good News of the Gospel to be shared, that the efforts of those involved will be fruitful and they would be encouraged, and for God to provide the resources needed.
