Homecoming Celebration Party ---- Event Recap
Saturday, December 1
Almost 700 IPFW alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends came to the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum to celebrate IPFW. Guests enjoyed a tailgate-style dinner; homecoming program, including the Alumni Awards presentation and speeches from Tony Jasick, Chris Paul, and Tommy Bell; and the 2nd annual Cupcake Eating Contest finals.
Guests then headed upstairs to cheer the men's basketball team to victory. Trailing by as many as 14 points in the second half, the Mastodons rallied to win this year's Homecoming game, holding Miami (Ohio) without a field goal for a seven-minute span. The comeback was capped with a Mario Hines lay-in with two seconds on the clock to claim a 57--56 victory in front of a cheering crowd of more than 3,000.
1. Alumni Award winners, left to right: Tina Funkhouser, Lynn Ramer, and Andrew Welch. 2. Students Today, Alumni Tomorrow (STAT), our student organization's entry for the sheet decorating contest. 3. IPFW Alumni Association board members Steve Franks, Jessica Conley, and Director of Alumni Relations Kim Wagner. 4. Homecoming 2012 King and Queen Timothy Leonard (one of STAT's most active members) and Mary Montes. 5. Students and alumni thoroughly enjoyed the STAT IPFW Spirit Photo Booth.
The Dons beat Miami of Ohio with 3.4 seconds to spare in front of their biggest crowd in two seasons! IPFW students Frank Gaines (pictured left) and Joe Edwards (pictured right).
