Get Organized! is celebrating 8 years in business this month. How far we have come since the days when I did everything myself as owner, organizer, and coach. Thankfully, as business has grown, so has the staff that I depend on to provide high quality service necessary for the success of our company.
As many of you know over the last 4 months my bathroom, closet, and bedroom have been in the midst of a remodel. While the decor and door handles are not all in place yet, the bathroom is far enough along to share our progress.
We stripped off the wallpaper, repainted the cabinets and doors, replaced counter tops and flooring and did a total redo of the shower. The new look is modern grey/white/black/cream with a slightly romantic feel. Although beautiful, it also follows my favorite theme of maximizing space. We converted the space under the cabinets which normally houses a vanity chair and purchased two hampers laundry and dry cleaning.
Maximizing space always creates better function and as our family evolves, so does the function of the rooms in our home. Major changes are coming to the Brock household in the coming months as my youngest son will become a part of the National Guard after graduation. He deploys on June 30th and will return home in the fall. Although I am proud of his desire to serve and protect his country, I will miss him. Working on organizing projects will help fill the space he leaves in my heart.   There is a good chance my entire home will be remolded before he returns! Next update will be on my closet.

Planning for Spring Travel
Spring Break for many of us is just a few weeks away. Here are a few hints to keep in mind as you travel: - Gas prices have been low lately. Here is a handy calculator to help you estimate how much you might spend on fuel based on where you are traveling and what vehicle you drive to get there.
- Keep your itinerary organized by putting all your travel plans together with Tripit. This app keeps your airline or hotel reservations, confirmation emails, driving directions, and more in one place.
- Want to taste the local cuisine? Find interesting regional restaurants at Roadfood and experience what makes the place you visit unique.

Organizing Your Garden
Chilly winter days are perfect for planning your spring garden. This interactive garden tool lets you make a plan based on your yard's dimensions and existing structures and allows you to drag and drop plants and garden features where you want.
Once you decide where new beds or plantings will go, you will want to improve the soil by adding compost. Buy it for this season, but get the kids to help you make your own for later in the year. Composting in your yard is easy to start now and recycles yard and food waste into nutrients for your garden.
Start seedlings indoors in peat pots that can be planted directly in the ground when it's warm enough.

Love is a Verb
Valentine's Day is the time we focus on showing love to our spouse and family, but every day is a good day to act on our love and add harmony to the home. Here are some easy ways:
- Spend time talking and listening to each other.
- Share each other's load by taking on chores for another family member.
- Work together on projects, activities, or hobbies to bond with laughter and fun.
- Be ready to forgive each other's faults and admit when you are wrong.
- Discern what each family member's love language is: physical touch, words of affirmation, quality time, gifts, acts of service, or a combination of these.
