Although this is our last newsletter of 2014, we are excited for January to roll around when we release our "2015 Get Organized! Top 10 Organizing Products" for National Get Organized! Month. Look for products and tips gathered from our own team of organizers to get you off to an organized start to the new year.
Be sure to read the article below and enter our annual December Organizing Tip Contest. We are giving away a $100 gift card for the best tip. Years ago one of the tips that was selected was from a lady who had all her recipes on index cards. She came up with the idea to slide the index card between the prongs of a fork and place the fork prongs-side-up in a cup. This allowed her to grab the cup with messy hands and not get the recipe card dirty. Genius.
On a personal note, we are remodeling our master bath and installing an all new master closet organizing system. I took one of our organizers to The Container Store and we spent three hours learning the ins and outs of their Elfa closet system (see picture below). Next month we will give you a peek into my new closet.

Clutter-free Gift Ideas
 We love to give gifts, but who wants to burden someone with more stuff to organize and store? Here are some gift ideas that will show you care while not adding to the recipient's household clutter:
- Tickets to an event such as the symphony, a baseball game, or a museum
- Season pass or family membership to area attractions such as the zoo, Six Flags, or Hawaiian Falls
- Gift cards to restaurants, movie theaters, or favorite stores
- Homemade goodies from your kitchen, such as cookies, bread, or pasta
- Personalized coupons for services you will provide, such as weeding the flower beds, washing the car, or teaching computer skills (especially appropriate for older loved ones)

Short-notice Entertaining Tips
 Entertaining friends on short notice is part of the fun of this time of year and does not have to be stressful. Keep these tips in mind to confidently host an impromptu gathering of friends.
- Spot-clean the kitchen, bathroom, and gathering room where you will entertain. All other areas can be closed off to guests.
- Stock up on paper plates and napkins from the dollar store for ease in cleanup.
- Keep a few easy foods on hand to serve, such as Christmas cookies, a block of cream cheese covered with jalapeno jelly and served with crackers, or meatballs (2 pounds) cooked in the slow cooker with a 12-ounce jar of jelly (grape or apricot) and a 12-ounce jar of barbecue sauce or ketchup.
- For really short notice, order a pizza and enjoy the company of your friends!
