It's a new year filled with resolutions, and getting organized ranks in the top 10. As a professional organizer, I truly believe that if one was organized, resolutions such as spending less or becoming fit would be easily accomplished. Better management of time and resources can set the stage for a Happy New Year!

Great Organizing Tools of 2013
 Try using this organizing to save valuable space! CDs and DVDs take up a lot of room when stored in the cases. What an eye-opener to see the space savings when you get rid of the cases and store the DVDs and CDs in an organized folder. You can label each folder with a category such as kid's movies, grown-up movies, TV shows, holiday movies, and types of music. File them alphabetically for quicker access. The storage cases can be purchased at most office supply places, Target, Walmart, and The Container Store.
Try these tools to organize under the sinks in the kitchen or bathroom. The hanging organizer on the right manages your blow dryer and accessories, and can hang on the door under the sink. Having your products visible and more accessible will serve you well everyday.
Storage totes are great for crafts, sewing items, art supplies, hair accessories, Barbie doll clothes and shoes, small Lego pieces, and much, much, more! Use them in the car for kids on-the-go or at home to keep toys and craft items sorted and organized. The inserts come in different sizes, and they slide into the container for easy access. Purchase these totes at The Container Store.
Everyone loves an organized pantry. Sorting and storing food items into categories saves time and money. It allows you to see what you have and save time and money when cooking and shopping. Stair step organizers (centered below) are perfect for cans or spices. The kid's snacks, small envelope packages, and breakfast bars stay organized in these stackable bins (left below). Your local The Container Store has all of these tools. The elfa door organizer is great for organizing those awkward pantry items. You can view them in an instant! These particular products are at The Container Store, but Target has some similar items to choose from as well.
 
 Dresser drawers often need an organizing strategy. Try using these Skubb organizers from IKEA to categorize your socks, underwear, t-shirts, belts, etc. You will be glad you did!
 Add Closetmaid cubicles to a closet or laundry room top shelf, or to maximize extra floor space. Fill the compartments with baskets to match your decor. The setup at right can be purchased at Target.
 is a great resource to organize your digital pictures and documents. Create categories and sub folders for easy retrieval. When you are ready to make your photo albums, your pictures will be readily accessible by date, subject, holiday, or location. |

Recycle Your Electronics
Recycle your out-dated, unwanted technology fast, easy, and free of charge. Bring your computer, phone, or other electronic devices to the answer desk at your local
Microsoft Retail Store. They will assess value based on the condition and current market value of each item and give you store credit. For items of no value, the data will be wiped clean and the item will be safely recycled for you.
