Greetings!
May is the month for moms to be put in the spotlight. As a mom of three boys, I have seen over the years how my boys have taken on more of the responsibility of Mother's Day, rather than having my husband take the lead.
Last year I recall that one day my 15 year old was missing at a time when he was normally at home. I called out for him multiple times, looked for him around the house, and called him on his phone with no response. I asked my husband if he knew where Corby had gone, and he calmly said, "no".
About 30 minutes later, he came through the door with a Walgreens bag in his hand, which usually means a run for junk food. I proceeded to lecture him about letting us know when he decides to go somewhere. Unlike most times, he stood there and took the lecture and said little in his defense.
On Mother's Day morning he gave me a gift wrapped and rolled in a Walgreens bag. Of course, I felt terrible for the way I had lectured him the day before. I encourage you to have grace this month as your families strive in their own ways to let you know how special you are to them.
If you would rather your children not spend money on gifts, suggest they give you an Act of Service for Mother's Day. Offer them a few ideas of tasks you would appreciate such as: helping you with a project, planting flowers, cleaning out the refrigerator, hand washing your car, cooking a meal, or scanning photos or documents for you.
At Get Organized!, we love serving our mom's for many reasons. It is important to us to help create homes where families are strong. We want to help moms not only organize their homes, but share resources that will improve their family dynamics. Let us know if we can help your family get organized!

A Gift for Mom
Make her Mother's Day last all year long! If you are a dad helping your kids find the perfect gift, or kids looking for a way to give mom the gift of an organized life, home, family, schedule, and some peace of mind, here's what you can do. We are offering our In-home Consultation for half the normal price. Just purchase the consultation during the month of May, 2013, then redeem it by November 30, 2013. To qualify, you must be a new client, and purchasing services for your wife or your mother.
Mom, give your loved one a little hint by forwarding this email!
We are experts in the field of family coaching as well. Our lead organizers can help you during your consultation to find answers to the problems you face in your home. I organize, but it never looks organized. Nothing in my home has a home. My schedule always seems so full, I just can't seem to get it all done. What should I do with all these papers? Where should I put all the kid's projects, homework, and awards? Who has time to cook anyway?
Sometimes it just helps to hear what needs to change from an outside expert. Dads, kids, and mom can benefit from these coaching sessions. When everyone is on board, the ship runs more smoothly. Then when the waves of life come through, it won't rock the boat nearly as much. The key to any successful plan is having everyone on the same page.
It is our desire that we bring you the right tools to change your life and the lives of those you love the most. Remember, what is modeled in your home will be passed to your children and grandchildren. This is the gift that never stops giving!

Every Room Organized
These stackable drawers are becoming one of our most practical residential organizing tools. They work in many spaces and for many different purposes. The drawers work well in the kitchen pantry for pasta, beans, and rice, and baking goods such as powdered sugar, brown sugar, marshmallows, and chocolate chips. You can also use them to organize the kid's lunch items. If you label each drawer into categories such as snacks, drinks, salty items, or sweets, they can make their own lunch. These drawers could easily stack on the floor to save shelf space.
Try using these drawers under the bathroom sink. Store first aid items, or hair products such as brushes, combs, curling irons, and blow dryers. You could also use a drawer for supplies such as cotton balls, Q-tips, facial wipes, and other cosmetic items or skin care products.
This is also a great tool for storing extra clothes, socks, underwear, swimwear, exercise clothing, belts, and other miscellaneous items in your closet that take up your much needed dresser space. Kids play areas benefit from these drawers as well. You can categorize their small toys into groups, and store cards, small games, video games, and the electronic accessories for the media room.
There are many other household uses for this simple and easy to use tool. The key is to measure your space: height, width, and depth to make sure the drawers you buy will work for your space. Watch out for pipes or shelf brackets if going under sinks or in closets. Consider also the size of the items to determine drawer size. Some styles are set up to interlock different size drawers. This makes organizing even easier as you can stack smaller drawers on top of the bigger ones. Make this even more versatile by placing small boxes or baskets inside the drawers to store even smaller items. Have fun and think outside the box!

Let Your Kids be the Boss!
This idea is sure to make your kids want to clean. I know, I know - you are skeptical, right? Try this and see if your house doesn't look better in a matter of minutes.
Let each child "be the boss" for ten minutes. His/her job is to supervise the other children while they pick up their belongings around the house and clean up their rooms. While they are learning to be a good supervisor, they will learn some positive character traits such as patience and kindness, as well as paying attention to the details. Remind them that what goes around comes around when it is their sibling's turn as supervisor. Mom sets the ground rules and can make it fun by putting a colorful whistle around her neck. The "boss" can wear a hat, t-shirt, or nametag that gives him the right to supervise. They have ten minutes to get the job done as soon as you have blown the whistle on clutter. Have all the children start in the same room. Once that room is acceptable to mom, blow the whistle and move to the next room. It is fine for the kids to clean their brother or sister's room as they learn to be helpful to others. Plan a twenty minute pickup time so that two of the children can take a turn. Follow this event up with movie time and popcorn. Wrap all this up with the last blow of the whistle and a job well done!
