Greetings!

There are two things I love about the month of February. First, Valentine's Day is almost here and the romantic in me comes out in full swing. I have Valentine's towels in my bathroom and heart shaped pillows on my bed. This year my husband and I have decided to keep it simple, but try something different. We plan to celebrate by finding a new restaurant for dinner and trying a new hotel for the evening.  
February also signals the 6th anniversary of Get Organized!. During our first year in business in 2007, I hired my best friend Paula to work alongside me organizing homes and offices. It wasn't long before I knew that I needed more help. Today, GO has a team of 9 that includes organizers plus sales and business development staff.  
Although my role has changed through the years with my focus turning to marketing, speaking, and developing business strategies, I still enjoy interacting with our clients through scheduling and consultations.  
One of our first clients still schedules a day with us every two weeks, and many of the women that I've met over the years now have children in high school. I just feel so blessed.  
You will notice a new logo below called the NAPO Golden Circle. The National Association of Professional Organizers presents this designation to organizers who have been in business for at least 5 years. I am very grateful to have received this recognition for a high level of experience and dedication to the organizing industry.

Organizing Seasonal
Baking Products
  
The kitchen is always where it begins when baking up love. 
For each holiday of the year we can easily purchase a variety of cookie cutters, cupcake holders, sprinkles, and more.
   
Since these baking items are normally used only once a year, it is best to use your most valuable space for things you use more often. Designate an area on a high shelf, over the refrigerator, or maybe in the far back of a deep cabinet or pantry. You may have to do a little rearranging of other kitchen items to make room for this system.  
Keep seasonal baking products all together, but separated by holiday. Have a container for Valentine's, Easter, 4th of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. Use clear show box size or larger, depending on the amount you have and the location you choose to store the bins. Be sure to measure the depth and width of your cabinets or shelves and purchase the size that maximizes your space.  
To get organized, label each box on the outside and line up on an empty countertop. Sort all of your holiday baking items into the appropriate box. Once the sorting is complete, place all of the bins in their new home, labels facing forward.

March 9th, 2013, from 1:00-2:00 p.m.  
Kate is an IKEA junkie and has not only built hundreds of IKEA pieces for our clients but has an eye for creative ways to use IKEA products.  

This FREE workshop is a part of IKEA's yearly Bring your own friends event (BYOF). There will be other exciting events going on in the store throughout the day including giveaways. There is no need to RSVP. Just look for signs when entering IKEA.  

Great Big Texas Home Show

For the third year in a row Lorraine Brock has been asked to present on stage at the Great Big Texas Home Show at Cowboys Stadium March 8-10, 2013.    
This year's three day show has a huge line-up on stage including; Ahmed Hassan, former host of Yard Crashers, Josh Flagg star of Bravo's Million Dollar Listing, Leslie Ezelle, interior designer and HGTV Design Star All Star's winner, and Lorraine Brock, Professional Organizer, Speaker, and Family Coach.  
Come out and see the beautiful Dallas Cowboys Stadium and do some shopping for your home improvement projects, repair dilemmas, or other household items. It's so worth it!!   LB's Headshot

Intern Fairs for Students
 
Get Organized! has always strived to include family management coaching as a part of our organizing process. For homes with children, graduation is right around the corner for high school and college seniors. Since as parents we are hopeful that a job is the next step, encourage your student to attend an Intern Fair or job expo in your city to get a head start.
  
Help them get organized by reading the requirements for the fair and gathering necessary materials. Often fairs have dress codes, so be sure to have clothes ready for the day of the event. When in doubt, dress in business attire.  
The most important items are multiple copies of their up-to-date resume (no matter how short) and letters of recommendation. Remind your child to collect business cards from promising companies for immediate followup after the fair. Often interested companies ask students to send resumes or more information by email.  
In case they get an interview request on-site, the student should have their current print or phone calendar on hand (with a pen if needed).  
Lastly, talk to them about having their phone on "silent" and using it only for calendar updates or for taking notes.

Replacement Tableware
  
When it comes to plastic storage containers, it is best to go through them periodically and throw out the pieces that do not have a matching lid or container.  
But it is a different story when you have a set of everyday dishes or fine china. If you are missing pieces to any table setting, we have a site that may interest you.  
Recently we heard about a person who was gifted her mother's china this past Christmas, BUT there were quite a few pieces that were missing from the set. She went to this helpful website called ReplacementsLTD.com and found everything she needed shipped directly to her.  
If you don't know the name or pattern of your tableware, the company can look it up for you free of charge and give you a price list of the pieces they stock. There is a lot more available on this site, so check it out and get your dishes organized.

Our organizers just love these towel hooks. When your dish towel is still damp and needs to dry, hang it on these hooks from The Container Store®.
  Towel Bar Kitchen
No installation is needed. Just place the hooks right over the top of your cabinet door. These come in a package of 1 or 2. Before you purchase, make sure the hooks fit the depth of your doors.
  
The Container Store also has a bar that installs the same way, but after using both we would recommend using the hooks instead of the bar.
