Happy Thanksgiving,

Get Organized! has been busy as usual organizing homes and helping those pressed for time get their houses ready for holiday cooking and visiting guests.

This year my family will enjoy Thanksgiving at my in-laws eating (of course), playing card games, and spending time outside shooting guns and playing catch football.

Thanksgiving and family gatherings are a great time to get your camera and take family Christmas photos. Plan what everyone will wear ahead of time and find a location that has beautiful scenery or a spot that is special to your family. Bring a family member or friend or set up a tripod and take lots of photos. The more you take, the more you have to choose from. Offer to be the photographer for your friends' families too. It is low cost, convenient, and fun for your family.

On a different note, I have been asked for the third year in a row to be one of the speakers for the Great Big Texas Home Show at Cowboys Stadium. I am very excited to share home organizing solutions with attendees this coming March, 2013.

Lastly, in October Get Organized! and our partners put together a great prize package for our Pamper a Mom Giveaway. We are pleased to announce that Kati Eller of Murphy, Texas, was our winner.  Kati will receive: 2 Bath, 2 Hand, 2 Washcloths, and a Bath Mat from Waterworks in Dallas, a Beijo Bag and notebook from Shannon Mercer, Mary Kay Timewise Microdermabrasion set and eye cream from Joyce Cravens, and a kitchen pantry makeover from Get Organized!. We will be showing you the before and after photos of the pantry soon.

May I always be thankful to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for His blessings both in the lean times and the bountiful times.

Always Thankful,

Christmas Cards

Don't beat yourself up if you don't have time to send your Christmas cards out before the holidays. You can send them late, create New Year's cards or wait until Valentine's Day to update your family and friends about your past year.

If you decide to send out Christmas or any other cards this year, I recommend a site called SendOutCards.com. It is convenient, low cost, and a great time saver.

SendOutCards.com offers real cards that you can customize, add photos and clip art, and have mailed directly to a list of addresses you provide. All this can be done from the comfort of your computer.

Organized Fun for the Whole Family...Christmas Bingo

Before your guests arrive, create Bingo Cards with funny things related to Christmas in each of the grid boxes.

Christmas BingoSome examples are:
  • "Never finishes shopping before Christmas Eve"
  • "Has a good chance to end up with some coal in their stocking!"
  • "Hates eggnog"
  • "Knows the ingredients to figgy pudding"
  • "Has stepped foot in an actual manger"
  • "Bought a new outfit for this party"
  • "Knows the words to any Christmas Carol and is willing to sing it for us right now"
  • "Can find the Christmas story in the Bible"
  • "Knows the approximate age of how old Jesus was when the Magi found Him"
  • "Will eat the most dessert on Christmas Day"
To start the game, the bingo caller will pick the statements one by one out of a pile and all guests who can answer yes to the question can cover up that square. The first person to connect five in a row gets a prize! Have fun!!!

Big Mitts, Little Kisses...
This one is for the kids!
Hershey Game

This is a great variation of a relay race that every little kid and big kid will enjoy!

Divide your guests into two groups, putting two bowls of Hershey's Kisses at opposite ends of a table. One member of each team will put on some over-sized winter mittens and when the race has begun, they must unwrap a piece of candy as quickly as possible and eat it! Once they finish, they can pass the mittens to the next person in line. Whichever team finishes eating one candy (or two) per team member the fastest wins!
A tasty holiday recipe:
Coffee Punch

   1 cup boiling water
1/2 cup instant coffee, brewed in the 1 cup of water
   3 cups of sugar
   1 gallon of whole milk
1/2 gallon of Blue Bell Ice Cream, "The Great Divide"

holiday punch

Instructions: Boil the water, coffee, and sugar until dissolved, remove the first bubbles that surface, add boiled mixture along with milk into a punch bowl, add individual scoops of the 1/2 gallon of ice cream into the punch bowl, and enjoy!!

Holiday cleaning tip:
Candle Wax Removal
Burning candles at Christmas is something many of us do. Here are some great tips for removing candle wax drips.

If you have votive cups with old candle wax stuck in the bottom, place the entire container in the freezer for 30 minutes. Use a butter knife to crack the wax and it pops out clean.

For wax on carpets, tablecloths, and more, try using Goof Off. While we have used it on carpets before with no staining or discoloration, we always recommend doing an out-of-site test spot first.
Ebates LogoRebates Online

We have mentioned the Ebates website before, but each year during the Christmas shopping season we think it's worth mentioning again.

Ebates is a free site that brings together additional rebates for most online stores. For example: just by clicking through Ebates to the Walmart store site, you can get an additional 6% off your online purchases including any other coupons or promotions you already have.

Once you reach around $25 worth of rebates in your Ebates account, they will mail you a check. There is no catch and there are no fees to pay.

To set up your Ebates account and start earning ebates, click on the link below: www.Ebates.com.
Holiday organizing tip

After putting up your decorations this year, be sure to take photos of the final projects. Store them with your decorations and this will make it easier next year to set up a mantel, ledge, or display quickly by looking at a picture from a previous year.
