A proud Haitian American, she is best known for creating and executive producing VH1's highly successfuland controversial reality show franchise, 'Love & Hip Hop.'
As the former President and Co-founder of Violator Management, Scott has also professionally managed LL Cool J, Fantasia and Missy Elliott. She is the powerhouse behind Monami, Inc a management company that manages many talents.
She is an active member in the Haitian American community and is also a member of the Haitian Round Table that is chaired by a board full of heavy weights in their own right.
Scott's business and philanthropic achievements have garnered recognition from a variety of business organizations
and media outlets, including Vibe Magazine and The Hollywood Reporter. She has been honored several times with awards from The National Association of Black Female Executives in Music Entertainment, Ad Age, and The National Congress and Convention of Haitian Americans
While talent management, television, and film production are at the core of Monami Entertainment's business, Scott-Young's background in marketing has led her to brand and consumer product development. She is part owner and
Chief Marketing Officer of Myx Fusions, a fruit-infused premium, ready-to-drink moscato beverage.
She is also proof that you can achieve your career goals on your own. In a recent interview with Everything Girls Love, the Love & Hip Hop, she explained how she balances family and work and why she decided to forgo college:
"I was living on my own at a very early age and needed to work to pay rent and found that the college path just wasn't right for me. You can go out there, work hard and accomplish and achieve your dreams. I was able to strike out and
find my success and find my way through life on my own." She also offered some advice to young women hoping to make it in the media industry saying:
"I just encourage people to never give up on those dreams; to never think that they can't do or be something. We are
all born on an equal playing field. I just think that we all need to recognize that the sky is the limit. Every day that you get up, whatever it is that you aspire to do, go for it with everything you've got. Really, there is nothing to stop you but yourself."
And that's an important point that transcends whether someone has attended college or not because without that ambition or continued motivation to achieve those goals, higher education isn't going to automatically get you where you want to be.
With her commitment to her career overshadowed only by her devotion to her family, Mona Scott-Young has proven that with integrity, hard work and dedication, anything is possible.
