Please Read IMPORTANT INFORMATION about Senior Pet Safety Net pets:

The Senior Pet Safety Net Email is a COURTESY POSTING for senior or special needs dogs or cats who need a home.  This is  a service offered by HWAH to help  senior dogs or cats in need when HWAH is not able to accept them into the HWAH program. If you have questions about, or an interest in, the featured pet, please contact the person indicated in the Safety Net email.

Safety Net Pets are not HWAH Residents.  Once a Pet becomes a HWAH Resident, our commitment is that they will remain at HWAH for their entire life.  They will not be put up for adoption.

As always we are grateful for your support and your assistance in helping these pets in need by sharing their plight with anyone you feel might be interested.

HWAH truly believes:  "Saving one dog might not change the world.  But, surely for that one dog the world will change forever."

A Bailout For Bailey?
When Bailey arrived at a vet clinic in Alexandria, Virginia, his owner wanted him to be put down.

The vet wouldn't stand for that, so the vet tech adopted Bailey herself. And if not for that, Bailey wouldn't be alive today!

And this happy, playful Sheltie mix would've been perfect in his new home, except he is not really compatible with the other dogs and kids in the vet tech's home.  So we're trying to find Bailey that new home where he'll be the one-and-only top dog and he won't have to share!

Bailey's in pretty good shape for his age (around 15, we think). He's housebroken but he needs to get out frequently.  Although he gets around OK he has a bit of weakness or pain, possibly a bit of arthritis, in his hind legs.  He's happy on the leash for a walk, going for a ride in the car, or just chilling on a pillow or a dog bed.
Is there a quiet, happy home where Bailey won't have to share the spotlight with other pets?  Please share Bailey's story and help us find him one!
