Please Read IMPORTANT INFORMATION about Senior Pet Safety Net pets:

The Senior Pet Safety Net Email is a COURTESY POSTING for senior or special needs dogs or cats who need a home.  This is  a service offered by HWAH to help  senior dogs or cats in need when HWAH is not able to accept them into the HWAH program. If you have questions about, or an interest in, the featured pet, please contact the person indicated in the Safety Net email.

Safety Net Pets are not HWAH Residents.  Once a Pet becomes a HWAH Resident, our commitment is that they will remain at HWAH for their entire life.  They will not be put up for adoption.

As always we are grateful for your support and your assistance in helping these pets in need by sharing their plight with anyone you feel might be interested.

HWAH truly believes:  "Saving one dog might not change the world.  But, surely for that one dog the world will change forever."

Don't Fence Us In!
If you're having trouble keeping your herd of cattle in line, you could really use one of these. And now you can have two!  Frank and Jessie are a pair of Australian Shepherd/Cattle dogs, enthusiastic and eager to please.

They are highly intelligent, beautifully trained and perfectly housebroken.  They'll do whatever you tell them, but they do need activity every day.  They have good manners on the leash, love to ride in the car -- and love each other very much.  At age 11, these two are only slightly limited in their range of hip motion, which is typical for the breed.

Of the two of them, Jessie is the more laid-back.  Frank is not aggressive either, but he isn't always happy sharing his space with other dogs, so we recommend that these two be the only pets in the house.  As we said, these two are lifelong best friends -- and we really must keep them together!

These fabulous dogs wound up in the Gloucester-Matthews Humane Society shelter in Gloucester, VA because their owner was forced to relocate and couldn't keep the dogs.  We hate to see herding dogs like these two cooped up!  Please share their story and let's find them a forever home with room to roam!

This Budweiser's For You!
Budweiser appears to be made of the best parts of Beagle and Basset, rolled into one adorable package.

It's hard to imagine this beautiful dog is a stray, who wound up at the Gloucester, Virginia animal shelter. He is totally laid back and lovable. He was treated successfully for Lyme disease, and has had close calls but not yet found a permanent forever home.

Although he's in a shelter situation, we're pretty sure Bud is housebroken since he knows exactly what to do when he's taken out of the shelter for a walk.  And he gets along great with every human and pet he meets.

Older pets like Budweiser never seem to get an even break at the shelter -- and the clock is ticking on this poor guy.  He needs to be adopted immediately.  If you or someone you know would welcome Bud home for good, please contact the shelter right away!
