The Senior Pet Safety Net Email is a COURTESY POSTING for senior or special needs dogs or cats who need a home.  This is  a service offered by HWAH to help  senior dogs or cats in need when HWAH is not able to accept them into the HWAH program. If you have questions about, or an interest in, the featured pet, please contact the person indicated in the Safety Net email.

Safety Net Pets are not HWAH Residents.  Once a Pet becomes a HWAH Resident, our commitment is that they will remain at HWAH for their entire life.  They will not be put up for adoption.

As always we are grateful for your support and your assistance in helping these pets in need by sharing their plight with anyone you feel might be interested.

HWAH truly believes:  "Saving one dog might not change the world.  But, surely for that one dog the world will change forever."

Rocky:  Don't Let The Salt-And-Pepper Fool You
This beautiful Lab + Plott Hound is no geezer.  Rocky is barely ten years old, energetic but always a gentleman!  He has great manners, perfectly housetrained and an affectionate companion who's happy running errands with you or snuggling up at home.

Right now, Rocky is an unofficial mascot at PetConnect Rescue's rehab and adoption facility, Muddy Paws Farm in Mount Airy, MD.  He is tail-wagging happy at all times, getting along great with all the dogs and kids.

This sweet guy ended up homeless as a result of a difficult divorce.  He is loved by all at Muddy Paws, but he really deserves a forever home of his own.  He's in good health in every way, ready to be your instant companion!  For more about Rocky you can click here.

Where's Kansas?
Right now, Kansas is at the Gloucester Matthews Humane Society shelter in Virginia. Where he came from is a mystery, since he wound up at the shelter as a stray.

It's really sad, because this gorgeous Hound/Pointer mix is as as sweet as can be.  We're guessing he's a little under ten years old but it's hard to tell. Unlike most Hounds we know, he's very laid back, not excitable or noisy.  And his joints are as good as new -- also unusual for an older Hound.  He appears to have been well-housetrained.

He's neutered, perfectly healthy, vetted, and can't wait for new friends to walk through the door of the shelter and fall in love with him.  And he's so handsome, it wouldn't be hard to do!

Tabitha, Hallie & Samantha -
Oh, My!
How many cats are too many?

We'll let you decide, as these three cats are seeking new homes either together, or individually.  Hallie, Tabitha and Samantha find themselves at loose ends, due to a forced relocation from their current home in Baltimore.

They're all female, spayed, declawed, litter box trained and wonderfully affectionate with humans.  They're all about twelve years old, happy together but not necessarily bonded with one another.  They get along with just some Cat Chow and love.  There are no known health issues, although they haven't seen the vet recently.

Please share these lovely kitties with friends and help us find them a new forever place to curl up!

To The Max!  Again!
Now there's a face that will melt your heart!  We got another, more recent photo of our friend Max -- and we wanted to share it with you. So we're reposting Max with his new photo (below), hoping to find him a new home.

Max is a mixture, probably a bit of Shepherd, some Malamute, and maybe a bit of Setter thrown in.  And once he sets those beautiful brown eyes on you, he'll be your best friend and happy companion.

MAX - Updated Photo
In his younger days Max was a ball of fire, always ready for action.  Now he's mellowed with age, still energetic but without the irrational exuberance.  Although he has no problems with kids, he gravitates toward adult company.  And he gets on very well with female dogs, but seems to resent other male dogs.

Max has two health issues.  His thyroid condition requires daily pills.  And he has a form of diabetes that requires injections of Desmopressin.  Although he's housebroken, he needs to get out often because the diabetes makes him thirsty.

Max's owner in Milford, Connecticut is forced to relocate out of state, and her new home won't take dogs.  She will provide several months of medication and a financial donation for whomever can provide him a happy new forever home.

MAX
Breed:  Malamute/Shepherd/Setter mix
Age:  14
Gender:  Male (neutered)
Vaccinations:  Up-to-date
Medical issues:  Diabetes (treated with daily injection) and a thyroid condition (treated with a pill each day)

Lunch With Rico
Rico is a delightful Golden Cocker Spaniel with a problem.  His owner in Silver Spring, MD just went through back surgery which was unsuccessful. So the owner finds herself physically unable to care for Rico.

Fortunately, Rico is in perfect health. He's always up for a walk on the leash.  A little under ten years old, he's well-housebroken, gets along great with everyone, including the grandkids and other dogs.  (He's never been around cats.) Favorite food:  Kibbles and Bits, mixed with lunch meat.  So mealtime is always "lunch" time with Rico!  He's every bit the ideal companion dog you expect a Cocker Spaniel to be.  Now he can be.. yours!
