Please Read IMPORTANT INFORMATION about Senior Pet Safety Net pets:

The Senior Pet Safety Net Email is a COURTESY POSTING for senior or special needs dogs or cats who need a home.  This is  a service offered by HWAH to help  senior dogs or cats in need when HWAH is not able to accept them into the HWAH program. If you have questions about, or an interest in, the featured pet, please contact the person indicated in the Safety Net email.

Safety Net Pets are not HWAH Residents.  Once a Pet becomes a HWAH Resident, our commitment is that they will remain at HWAH for their entire life.  They will not be put up for adoption.

As always we are grateful for your support and your assistance in helping these pets in need by sharing their plight with anyone you feel might be interested.

HWAH truly believes:  "Saving one dog might not change the world.  But, surely for that one dog the world will change forever."

Batman & Pharaoh
PHARAOH & BATMAN
Batman & Pharaoh are two terrific terriers, rescued as pups.  They've been together as part of a happy family east of Baltimore all their lives.

Of the two, Pharaoh is definitely the alpha dog.  If you come to visit, Pharaoh will probably be the first to greet you.  If you respond by petting Pharaoh, Batman will come over looking for some affection as well!  These two are sociable with the neighbors, and even the neighbors' dogs.

As they get older, Pharaoh and Batman need a bit more attention. Batman has occasional seizures but they don't require medication.  Pharaoh takes a supplement twice a day to treat a kidney condition.  As a result Pharaoh needs to get outside to his business more often -- but both dogs are well housebroken.

Lately, these two have been spending too much time in the crate. Changes in the owners' job situation, requiring more out of town travel (and the departure of the kids)  means Batman and Pharaoh are home alone too much of the time.  Their owners are seeking a new home for these two, preferably together, where they can get more quality family time.  Help us help them find it!

PHARAOH & BATMAN
Pharaoh:  13 year old Toy Fox Terrier; neutered male.  Takes a twice-daily supplement (Azodyl) for a kidney condition.  Still active, although he suffers minor arthritis from being hit by a car as a young dog.

Batman:  12 year old Rat Terrier, neutered male.  Suffers occasional minor seizures, but requires no medication and is otherwise active and healthy.

Both are up-to-date on vaccinations.

Redz - Poodle With A Stiff Lower Lip - And No Lower Jaw
When you see this beautiful ten year old Toy Poodle named Redz, you might not even notice that he has no lower jaw.

Redz was attacked by another dog, and as a result, his lower jaw had to be removed.  But his lower lip was reconstructed.  Even though he has no teeth, he eats and drinks normally (soft food, please) and is well-housebroken.

Surrendered to a shelter, Redz was rescued by our friends at For The Love of Poodles & Pooches in Richmond.  He's being fostered at a home with ten other dogs, from a four pound Yorkie to an 80 pound German Shepherd, and he gets along great with all of them!  During the day he enjoys his independence, and if the weather's nice he loves being in the yard.  But at night, he'll be ready to cuddle with you on the couch.

Rescued from the shelter -- that's half the battle.  Now let's find this sweet Toy Poodle a cozy new home!

REDZ
Breed:  Toy Poodle
Gender:  Male (neutered)
Age:  About 10
Vaccinations:  Up-to-date
Health issues:  Lower jaw and teeth removed, requires soft food; no other issues
