Please Read IMPORTANT INFORMATION about Senior Pet Safety Net pets:

The Senior Pet Safety Net Email is a COURTESY POSTING for senior or special needs dogs or cats who need a home.  This is  a service offered by HWAH to help  senior dogs or cats in need when HWAH is not able to accept them into the HWAH program.

If you have questions about, or an interest in, the featured pet, please contact the person indicated in the Safety Net email.

Safety Net Pets are not HWAH Residents.  Once a Pet becomes a HWAH Resident, our commitment is that they will remain at HWAH for their entire life.  They will not be put up for adoption.

As always we are grateful for your support and your assistance in helping these pets in need by sharing their plight with anyone you feel might be interested.

HWAH truly believes:

"Saving one dog might not change the world.
But, surely for that one dog the world will change forever."

Please, No Shelter For Nikki The Jack Russell

If it hadn't been for a considerate friend, Nikki was going to end up in a shelter, when a friend had to care for a terminally ill parent.

That friend is allergic to dogs so we're anxious to help Nikki find a permanent home for her and her Jack Russell charms.  She is lovable, energetic, cuddly and playful like a pup.  Tennis balls, squeaky toys, tummy rubs - those are among the highlights of Nikki's day.  Perfectly housebroken, loves to get on the leash for a walk, and she'll wait patiently while you hitch her up.  She's very smart, very well trained and behaved -- an exceptional dog!

We can't say how she'll do with other dogs or cats, because her experience with them is pretty limited.  She seems to bark at other dogs at a distance, and then turn curious and playful when they get close.

Please help us get Nikki out of her allergic Fairfax County, Virginia home so she can snuggle into a new place before winter comes!

Sebastian, The Talking Cat
Our good friends at Homeward Trails are handling the adoption of our friend Sebastian.

Although we think all senior pets are pretty amazing, Sebastian happens to think he is truly amazing.  He's a gray and white tuxedo shorthair who enjoys taking a "shower" in the sink with running water now and then.  He'll also strike up a conversation (all meows, of course) so there's never a dull moment with Sebastian around.

He's a happy lap cat who gets along great with other cats and enjoys playing with kids.  He's already microchipped and is a perfect gentleman with the litter box.

The cat's current owner in Montgomery County, Maryland has a husband who is cat averse so we are helping get the word out about this handsome, playful affectionate, talkative, well-groomed cat!

SEBASTIAN

What A Pair!
Molly & Brandy
And what a sad story.  Molly and Brandy had a wonderful owner who was diagnosed with terminal cancer.  Within just a few weeks, she passed away, with Molly and Brandy in her arms.  Finding Shelter.org in King of Prussia, PA stepped in and found a foster home that can keep these two together, for now.  We're looking for a permanent, loving home that can also keep them together.

Well-housebroken, these two lovable Jack Russell Terriers have been perfect with everyone they've stayed with!  Playful one minute, easygoing couch potatoes the next.  They get along well with cats, other dogs and kids.  They're energetic on the leash -- better with a harness.  A fenced yard would be wonderful.

With no health issues we know of, they're ready to roll.
Finding Shelter normally looks for adopters within 30 miles of King of Prussia, PA but will waive that requirement for the perfect home!  Find more information by

Bird Watchers:
Katie & Allie
ALLIE

Katie and Allie are a pair of tuxedo cats who apparently are a bit camera shy -- or maybe just too busy watching birds out their window, or snoozing.

These two tuxedo cats find themselves in a temporary limbo situation in Baltimore as their owner deals with a foreclosure. She is hoping to find a foster situation to give her cats a happy place to hang out until she has a new home for them.
KATIE

These two are quite attached to each other -- and they both love to be scratched. But rather than cuddle up, they'd just as soon eat a few treats or watch TV.

They're declawed, great with the litter box and anxious to find a warm foster home together before winter comes. Please share this and help us!
