The Senior Pet Safety Net Email is a COURTESY POSTING for senior or special needs dogs or cats who need a home. This is a service offered by HWAH to help senior dogs or cats in need when HWAH is not able to accept them into the HWAH program.

If you have questions about, or an interest in, the featured pet, please contact the person indicated in the Safety Net email.

Safety Net Pets are not HWAH Residents. Once a Pet becomes a HWAH Resident, our commitment is that they will remain at HWAH for their entire life. They will not be put up for adoption.

As always we are grateful for your support and your assistance in helping these pets in need by sharing their plight with anyone you feel might be interested.

Karma & Nalla:

Let's Stay Together!

What a gorgeous pair! Nalla looks to be a purebred German Shepherd, and Karma is a lab-shepherd mix. Their owner in Charlotte, North Carolina passed away and two co-workers have taken it upon themselves to find these beautiful female dogs a new home, together.

A few people have expressed an interest in adopting one, but not the other. We're focused on finding a home for both of them, because Nalla cries whenever she's separated from Karma. Very sad.

Nalla is the laid-back sweetheart of the two -- very calm, great with other dogs, cats and kids. Karma -- she's fine with older kids but seems edgy with really young ones, and sometimes with other dogs. They both get along great with cats and know exactly what to do when they're on the leash. They're both housetrained, with a couple of accidents early on, probably due to insecurity with a new situation.

Both are in generally good health. Karma has atopic dermatitis and Nalla has Pannus. Both were on medications, and the medication was stopped temporarily after the owner passed away. Both are back on their medications now, doing well.

We can't bear to see these two torn apart. Please spread the word and help us find a happy new home for Karma and Nalla!

Milo vs. Snuggles

SNUGGLES

First, let's be clear: No cats are harmed when Milo and Snuggles have one of their informal wrestling matches. Both of these sweet cats are declawed in front, so when they go at it, it's all in fun.

Snuggles is a longhaired male, 18 years old. Milo is a shorthaired female, about 10. They live together in Ellicott City, Maryland and we're hoping to keep them together in a new forever home.

MILO

Aside from the occasional wrestling match, you'll generally find Snuggles to be outgoing and affectionate, looking for a snugglee to snuggle with.

Milo is a bit more of a loner -- she'll make herself scarce when strangers come around. Eventually she'll get lonely and come around to get a friendly rub against anyone she sees.

They're both good with the litterbox and get along well with other cats and kids.

Both cats are fairly healthy, although Snuggles is on the older side and requires hyperthyroid medication and a blood test four times a year. The owner can provide details.

The owner of these two handsome cats is facing major challenges - a young son with a medical condition and a fiancee who's seriously allergic to cats. Milo and Snuggles are perfectly happy in an apartment -- and we promise if you open your home and your heart to these cats, you'll get plenty of affection and some spirited feline competiton!
