Please Read IMPORTANT INFORMATION about Senior Pet Safety Net pets:

The Senior Pet Safety Net Email is a COURTESY POSTING for senior or special needs dogs or cats who need a home.  This is  a service offered by HWAH to help  senior dogs or cats in need when HWAH is not able to accept them into the HWAH program.

If you have questions about, or an interest in, the featured pet, please contact the person indicated in the Safety Net email.

Safety Net Pets are not HWAH Residents.  Once a Pet becomes a HWAH Resident, our commitment is that they will remain at HWAH for their entire life.  They will not be put up for adoption.

As always we are grateful for your support and your assistance in helping these pets in need by sharing their plight with anyone you feel might be interested.

HWAH truly believes:

"Saving one dog might not change the world.
But, surely for that one dog the world will change forever."

Coco - All Fixed Up,
No Place To Go

This cute, cuddly Chihuahua is Coco.  She was found abandoned in her neighborhood in Little Neck, New York and taken in by someone with a soft spot in her heart for Chis.

We can't imagine why Coco would be abandoned -- she's about as happy-go-lucky as can be.  Whether it's going for a little walk, a ride in the car or snuggling up on the couch for a snooze, our Coco seems perfectly content.  She does love her food, and can be a little territorial about food if there's another dog around.  And she won't share a dog bed with another dog!  But she gets along perfectly with humans, and has ignored completely the two cats in the house with her.  Unfortunately, those two cats do not seem to like Coco for some reason, so finding a new home is in order.

Medically, Coco has a touch of arthritis and a bit of a heart murmur.  An abscess around the anal gland and all her vaccinations have been taken care of.  She's having a bad tooth fixed this Friday.  So our little 4 pound friend will be ready to go!  She's housebroken to do her business outside, or on pee pads.

Please share Coco's sad story and help us find her a happy ending!  Coco's current owner is in NY but is a former Maryland resident and will be happy to bring her to the DC area to connect her with a new home.
