We wanted to update you on Petey and Buckshot.  This bonded pair of ten-year-old dachshunds ended up in the Caroline County Humane Society shelter because their owner went into a nursing home.  When we received a call inquiring if we could foster these sweeties, we just couldn't refuse.  Since then, we decided to make them permanent residents at the Sanctuary. 

 At the time, we didn't anticipate their medical needs.  Petey had two fistulas in his mouth that needed to be fixed, and both dogs needed dental work.   Caroline County had Petey neutered before he came to us, but Buckshot had the sniffles and couldn't have the surgery at that time.  Buckshot was losing his vision but it took an opthalmologist to find out why.  We also found out that Petey had a heart murmur.

Here's the good news -- through your very generous donations to our Buster's Buddies fund we have raised about half of the $9,500 it will take to cover Petey and Buckshot's medical bills.  

The bad news is, we still have to raise the other half, and we're hopeful that the progress these beautiful dogs have made will be an incentive.  For those of you who have donated, our most sincere thanks!
