Exceptional Care For Special Needs:
Buster's Buddies

Welcome to our Buster's Buddies Program.

As part of our ongoing desire to help Senior Dogs, we have begun to "foster'" special needs dogs at House with a Heart.

This is a limited care program for dogs who might not have the care and attention they need at their current rescue.

While the rescue continues to look for a forever home, HWAH supplies their daily needs of food, shelter, and love.

We also assist the rescue in promoting them for adoption.
Meet Petey & Buckshot:
They'll Melt Your Heart

If ever there were two adorable little guys, Petey and Buckshot certainly fill the bill.  This bonded pair of ten-year-old dachshunds was taken to the Caroline County Humane Society because their Mom went into a nursing home.  When we received a call inquiring if we could foster these sweeties, we just couldn't refuse, and brought them to the Sanctuary under our new Buster's Buddies Program.

At the time, we didn't anticipate some circumstances that would arise.  For instance, both boys have teeth that need attention and Petey has two fistulas in his mouth that really need to be repaired.  Caroline County had Petey neutered before he came to us, but Buckshot had the sniffles and couldn't have the surgery at that time.  We knew that Buckshot had lost his vision, but didn't know if there was anything that could be done to restore his sight unless he went to visit an ophthalmologist..  And, to make matters even more complicated, when we took the boys to the vet for an estimate for dentals, we found out that Petey has a Grade 5 heart murmur.

Petey & Buckshot In Action!

So, you may ask, how does this all impact House with a Heart?  Well, the people at Caroline County Humane Society, who happen to be very caring people, just don't have the funding to pay medical expenses for the wieners.  They can contribute $150, which is just the smallest drop in the bucket.  And, for all who are aware how our Sanctuary operates, you know that we always provide needed medical care for the animals in our trust.

Our preliminary estimate is that for the veterinary consults and procedures Petey and Buckshot need, we will have to raise $9,500.  Since we cannot use funds budgeted for our residents, we are asking our friends and supporters to help us provide these two dear little dogs with the medical care they require by donating to our Buster's Buddies Program:
