The Senior Pet Safety Net Email is a COURTESY POSTING for senior or special needs dogs or cats who need a home. This is a service offered by HWAH to help senior dogs or cats in need when HWAH is not able to accept them into the HWAH program.

If you have questions about, or an interest in, the featured pet, please contact the person indicated in the Safety Net email.

Safety Net Pets are not HWAH Residents. Once a Pet becomes a HWAH Resident, our commitment is that they will remain at HWAH for their entire life. They will not be put up for adoption.

As always we are grateful for your support and your assistance in helping these pets in need by sharing their plight with anyone you feel might be interested.

Getting To Know Cocoa & Cole

Cocoa & Cole are the first two foster pups who are with us as part of our Buster's Buddies project. As we told you a few weeks ago, we're helping Homeward Trails find a home where we can keep these two adorable Terrier/Chihuahua mixes together (even though they don't happen to be senior pets).

These two are so lovable and sweet, it's hard to imagine the tough time they've been through. They've come a long way -- and we wanted to show you in this video just how adorable they are.

Shaggy - Long On Hair & Intelligence

Many Terrier owners will tell you that their dogs are almost TOO smart. That certainly sounds like Shaggy here. He's a 14-year old Terrier mix from Silver Spring, Maryland who has a wide vocabulary and knows just what he wants.

Rather than picking him up, just pat the couch or your lap and watch Shaggy jump right up. He prefers a good walk to a ride in the car. And he's concerned for your safety, especially in a lightning storm. He's well-housebroken, in excellent health, lively, active -- almost as energetic as a puppy. He's good with other dogs -- not sure about cats.

Shaggy is about to become a victim of difficult

family circumstances. With no one in the family able to take this handsome dog, he's heading for heartbreak unless someone steps forward to give him a happy forever home.

Dottee & Brandee: Beautiful Additions To Your Backyard

We seriously believe that no backyard is complete without a happy dog, or two, to enjoy the space along with you.

These two 11 year olds would be perfect. Brandee is an Alaskan Malamute. Dottee is a Border Collie & Chow mix. This happy pair has been together forever and we're hoping to keep them that way.

Since these two get on so well with each other, they're bound to do well with other dogs. And since they're such good friends, they won't be lonely when you're not around. (But when you ARE around, they'll be ready for a little doggy affection.)

And they're housebroken, for times when they aren't enjoying themselves in your fenced backyard.

Sadly, these dogs' owner has lost her job in Woodbridge, VA and must relocate out of state at the end of the month, and cannot take these two with her. So if your backyard is looking empty, have we got a pair of dogs for you!
