Please Read IMPORTANT INFORMATION about Senior Pet Safety Net pets:

The Senior Pet Safety Net Email is a COURTESY POSTING for senior or special needs dogs or cats who need a home.  This is  a service offered by HWAH to help  senior dogs or cats in need when HWAH is not able to accept them into the HWAH program.

If you have questions about, or an interest in, the featured pet, please contact the person indicated in the Safety Net email.

Safety Net Pets are not HWAH Residents.  Once a Pet becomes a HWAH Resident, our commitment is that they will remain at HWAH for their entire life.  They will not be put up for adoption.

As always we are grateful for your support and your assistance in helping these pets in need by sharing their plight with anyone you feel might be interested.

HWAH truly believes:

"Saving one dog might not change the world.
But, surely for that one dog the world will change forever."

Curry:  A New Foster
Home & A New Name...
We sent out an alert last week about Curry.  This beautiful fluffball wound up as a stray at the BARCS shelter in Baltimore. There was a deadline for Curry to be euthanized.

Some HWAH volunteers were prepared to step in, but the Fallston Animal Rescue Movement in Maryland beat them to it and have fostered Curry. Curry's new name is Eddie, and FARM is seeking a forever home for him.

Eddie has some dental issues and arthritis, but he's fairly active, housebroken and gets along well with other dogs and cats.   If you're interested in Eddie you can click here to see him on FARM's Facebook page, or contact:

Chica - The Dog That
Wouldn't Sit Still
We're still trying to get Chica to pose directly in front of a camera for a good head shot.

This 6 lb. Shorthair Chihuahua also gets excited when it's time to go for a walk, and is extraordinarily cuddly and sweet. She's great with other dogs, cats and kids.

Chica is a good dog in a tough situation. Her longtime owner in Bowie, MD has passed away. Chica is home alone most of the day, with a daughter coming over to feed her and put down fresh puppy pads (she seems to be housebroken otherwise).  Her vet has done a checkup and vaccinations.  Right now, she just needs a new owner to cuddle with.

CHICA
Breed:  Shorthair Chihuahua
Gender:  Female (intact)
Age:  11
Vaccinations:  Up-to-date
Health: Minor lumps on front legs, needs dental cleaning, one loose tooth, otherwise good

Max: Seeking Peace, Quiet And No Kids
Max is a Shia-Poo (half Shih Tzu, half Poodle) with a split personality. He's kind and loving, playful as can be, good with other dogs.

But he gets anxious and upset, even a little snappish around small children, and that's a problem in Max's household where there are active young kids around.  And he gets nervous (and has an occasional accident) in thunderstorms or if he's left alone for extended periods of time.

At age 15, Max has been diagnosed with cataracts and Cushing's.  He is not currently on medication.

The owner's elderly parents are fostering Max for now, but we're hoping that this 20 pound sweetheart of a dog can find a happy, quiet home (without young kids) to cruise through his senior years.

MAX
Age:  15
Breed:  Shia-Poo
Gender:  Male (neutered)
Vaccinations:  Up to date
Health: Diagnosed with
cataracts, Cushings, borderline diabetes

IRIE
This beautiful 12-year old Cocker named Irie was posted to the Safety Net about a month ago.

Our friend Millie B. saw the Safety Net posting and thought Irie would be a perfect companion for her two Beagles.  It turns out, Irie also gets along great with Millie's four cats!  Irie is home for good.

THANKS for stepping up and helping deserving seniors find happy homes!  Just sharing our posts with your friends can make a huge difference.
