The Senior Pet Safety Net Email is a COURTESY POSTING for senior or special needs dogs or cats who need a home.  This is  a service offered by HWAH to help  senior dogs or cats in need when HWAH is not able to accept them into the HWAH program.

If you have questions about, or an interest in, the featured pet, please contact the person indicated in the Safety Net email.

Safety Net Pets are not HWAH Residents.  Once a Pet becomes a HWAH Resident, our commitment is that they will remain at HWAH for their entire life.  They will not be put up for adoption.

As always we are grateful for your support and your assistance in helping these pets in need by sharing their plight with anyone you feel might be interested.

HWAH truly believes:

"Saving one dog might not change the world.
But, surely for that one dog the world will change forever."

Meet "Buster's Buddies"

As you know, House with a Heart is a Sanctuary for senior pets.  Our residents have found their forever home here and are loved until the end of their lifetimes.  Unfortunately, space and funds are limited and we have to decline many requests to accept new residents.  It truly hurts our hearts to have to say "no," but it's necessary to enable us to provide the outstanding care our residents so richly deserve.

Still, we wanted to do more for the pets we could not admit to the Sanctuary.  So we created our Senior Pet Safety Net.  This is a project that enables us to post stories about senior dogs and cats that need loving homes to our many Facebook and email followers.  Our team of counselors works hard to locate resources for those who need to relinquish their pets or to allow them to solve issues that may make it possible to keep their pets.  Whenever possible, we follow up on these posts to track outcomes.

We're happy to report that we have established another program that will assist in finding forever homes for pets.  We're proud to announce the launch of The Buster's Buddies Project, which permits HWAH to foster pups for two Maryland Rescue groups.  These dogs can be of any age and will stay at the Sanctuary until their forever homes are found.  We will post their bios and keep you up-to-date on their lives at HWAH.  Any one interested in potentially adopting one of these pups can make an appointment with HWAH to visit and meet the foster, then go to the appropriate website and complete the adoption application.

Now, we'd like to introduce you to Cocoa and Cole.  You can read their stories on the Homeward Trails Petfinder site.  These two little dogs are more than adorable.  They are both very responsive and sweet and get along with all the other dogs at the Sanctuary.  When you read their stories, you will understand why they're a bit timid, but once they get to know you, which takes only moments, they will climb into your lap, asking for snuggles.
