On Wednesday, at the Dayton Women's Club, Betty Darst will speak on the topic: "Hats Off to the DWC Past Presidents: Katharine Wright: Charter member of DWC." A social hour begins at 10:30 a.m. with the program at 11 a.m. and lunch at noon.

Downtown Walking Wednesdays are fun, self-guided walks which feature a different downtown route each week. Start your walk at one of two locations: Courthouse Square or RiverScape MetroPark.

The next Mound Science and Energy Museum evening history event will be held at the Museum at 7:00 pm on Wednesday. Dr. Joel Getts will talk about the history of the funeral home in America.


The Reel Paddling Film Festival World Tour is an international adventure film tour presenting the world's best paddling films of the year. Audiences will see hairy whitewater action, sea kayakers exploring remote coastlines, northern river canoe expeditions, international river travel films, motivating environmental documentaries, grueling kayak fishing battles and hilarious short films capturing the lighter side of paddling life. Wednesday, 7:30pm at The Neon.


Try folk dancing on Thursday from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM at the Michael Solomon dance pavilion (in the Community Golf Course parking lot). FREE entry, teaching, and refreshments. On Carillon Historical Park's western horizon the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra will enchant Dayton Heritage Day guests with selections from John Philip Sousa, George Gershwin, Count Basie, and many others. High in the Deeds Carillon console, after playing patriotic selections throughout the day, award-winning carilloneur Larry Weinstein will join the philharmonic on the 1812 overture. From musket-firing to candle-dipping to theatrical performances, Heritage Day creates a Memorial Day Weekend to remember. Sunday, 11am - 8:30pm.

There is a groundhog living in luxury under my deck. I bet he has a little disco ball, a great sound system, a huge wet bar, and mossy wall-to-wall carpeting down there. I bet he throws great parties at night for all the neighborhood raccoons, possums, and assorted squirrels. I am sure they have a great time, too, because ...(the rest of the story)

The Greater Dayton RTA's new youth summer passport is just the ticket for area teens to get where they want to go this summer. The pilot program will provide unlimited travel option for three months for the low price of $55.

Airstream has many of the top living landscape artists in the country and their exhibition will run in conjunction with Alumapalooza, an annual gathering of Airstreams owners and enthusiasts. One also has the opportunity to talk with Airstream employees and explore the factory, service center, and much more. The art exhibit will take place in the lobby of the customer service building located at 419 W. Pike St. and will be open Tuesday, May 31 - Saturday, June 4 from 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. each day. Admission is free.

EVENTS HELPING OTHERS 





National Museum of the U.S. Air Force visitors are invited to be a part of history during a ceremonial ribbon cutting event that will officially open the museum's fourth building to the public on June 8 at 9:15 a.m. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. and the first 100 individuals (at least 16 years of age) will receive a $10 Air Force Museum Foundation gift card upon entering the museum.

LUNAFEST films by... for... & about women. 
Award-winning short films tell diverse, thought-provoking stories through the lens of women filmmakers in places ranging from Dayton, Ohio to the Philippines, Cuba and Iran. Proceeds benefit the Breast Cancer Fund and Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio Region. Tickets are $10.00 ($5.00 students) and can be purchased in advance at the Neon. Sunday June 5 from 3:00-5:00 pm.


Unity: The missing piece is you. The Dayton Gay Men's Chorus continues to tell their stories of unity and acceptance for the entire community, through the majestic art of men's voices. From moving standards of the past, to iconic pop songs of today, this concert promises to take the audience on an artistically emotional ride they won't soon forget. Then Witness the power of the voices and the DGMC is joined on stage by the Louisville Gay Men's Chorus, placing nearly 70 male voices on stage at once! Saturday, June 4, 8:00PM, Victoria Theatre.


Tickets are now available for Discover Classical's annual benefit gala Catch a Rising Star. The gala will be held on Saturday, June 4, from 7:30 to 10 p.m. at Boonshoft Museum of Discovery. The event features heavy hors d'oeuvres, complimentary beer and wine, confections and a planetarium show.
