St. John's UCC at 515 E. Third St is having an organ concert on Wednesday. It begins at noon followed by a luncheon.  Chris Van Breukelen will perform. All are welcome to attend.  
 


The next Mound Science and Energy Museum evening history event will be held at the Museum at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, August 26, 2015. James H. "Pee Wee" Martin, 101st Airborne, will share his WWII experiences in Europe.

Green Drinks, August 26, (6:00pm - 8:00pm), Brixx Ice Company. Chris Flores' presentation will address the concept behind "green" (environmentally responsible) investing as well as how "divesting," (especially in companies with large carbon footprints), have both become criteria for many organizations and individuals.  For example, last year the University of Dayton Board of Trustees unanimously approved a new investment policy, to divest coal and fossil fuel from its $670 million investment pool, which reflects the University's commitment to environmental sustainability, human rights and its religious mission.


They need your help to harvest seed from Huffman Prairie! Seed from plants will be harvested to provide seed for a large pollinator planting at Germantown MetroPark in the spring of 2016. Your work will help provide valuable habitat for bees, moths, butterflies, and many other insects that depend on these native plants. A Conservation Manager will oversee the harvesting. It is Saturday, August 29, at Dave Hall Plaza Downtown Dayton from 2pm-5pm for the 17th Annual AleFest Dayton. This is an annual craft beer festival showcasing over 400 of the finest beer styles of the world, as well as 13 specialty casks (NEW!) in a responsible, educational, & enjoyable fashion. A portion of this year's proceeds will benefit Habitat for Humanity, Dayton Area Rugby Club, along with 10 other local non-profit organizations.

Walking Meditation, Sunday, August 30, 4:00pm 5:00pm. Slowing down to experience and reflect on the smells, sounds and sights of nature can be an effective tonic to our fast-paced lives. Tecumseh Land Trust and the Yellow Springs Dharma center are collaborating to provide a Nature Meditation walk in Glen Helen Nature Preserve aimed at just that. They will start and end at the Yellow Springs Parking lot, straight ahead from the drive into the Glen at 1075 State Route 343, Yellow Springs. This is free and open to the public.

Washington-Centerville Public Library will kick off its new Brown Bag Business Lunch & Learn series on September 2 at noon with a presentation on Data Mining. The presentation introduces a number of the high quality online resources that can help businesses find potential customers, understand industry trends and keep an eye on their competition.
