The October 22-23 Advanced Manufacturing Technology Show is the next step for a regional manufacturing sector that is rebounding and retooling for growth.  

 

The next Mound Science and Energy Museum evening history event is  at the Museum at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, October 22, with Mike Ekberg, from The Miami Conservancy District (MCD) discussing Our Buried Water Aquifier.

 

Fashioning Futures luncheon is Clothes That Work's annual fundraiser. Thursday, 11:30 -1:00pm at Sinclair Ponitz Building.

 

 

A downtown Dayton building is turning 100. The Old Post Office building at 120 W. Third Street was built a century ago and dedicated on New Year's Day 1915. A "Re-dedication Ceremony" is Thursday, October 23, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the building's lobby, followed by a reception.  

 

 

The 2014 Dayton Regional Science Festival is a four-day celebration of all things STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). From Thursday, October 23 - Sunday, October 26, local participating businesses, organizations, and educational institutions will host events throughout the greater-Dayton region that will provide people of all ages an opportunity to see science in a new light.

Sinclair will roll out the red carpet, Hollywood style, at the Eighth Annual A Vintage Affair on Friday, October 24, from 6 - 9:30 p.m. in the Great Hall. This tasting event features local food, breweries and distilleries owned by Sinclair Alumni. Guests can enjoy live music, a student art sale, silent auction and more! 

 

 

Les Misarables, in partnership with the Dayton Playhouse will be presented in a concert setting with full symphony orchestra, costumes, a superb cast and larger than life chorus. Dayton Masonic Center; Friday and Saturday, October 24th and 25th at 8:00 PM. Matinee, Sunday, October 26 at 2:00 PM.

 

 

Musica's season begins October 25 & 26, with "New Beginnings." The concert will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday at St. George's Episcopal Church, 5520 Far Hills Ave., Centerville, and 3:00 p.m. Sunday at The Dayton Art Institute.

 

 

Five Rivers Metroparks encourages Daytonians to GET OUT & VOLUNTEER ON SATURDAY, OCT. 25. Volunteers needed to help spruce up parks as part of national Make a Difference Day. This is Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. Register online and choose the place you want to help!
  

Tom Morrow will present, "Public Transit in Oakwood from the Early Days to Present" on Sunday October 26 at 2:00 p.m. in the Oakwood Library. From horse drawn cars to the diesel bus, learn about all aspects of transit during this lecture.
