PAULA'S PERSPECTIVES
Lite and Lean
We have been preparing to move out of our house and I've come face-to-face with all the stuff that accumulates over time. Attics and closets and garages and drawers and places I haven't looked in a while...contain the stuff of my life. Sometimes it's easy to decide that something isn't worth packing to move...old theater tickets, clothes that don't fit, old tax returns, even a few gifts that I never used. Yard sale, Craig's list, recycle, trash. It feels good to be able to release stuff that is no longer useful to me.
But then there are the things that hold a lot of meaning for me...the stuff in my potterystudio, my Nikon camera, tools for jewelry making...that I am not sure about releasing. I am still holding on to what I used to have time to do and how it made me feel. Will I ever find the time to mold clay, take photographs or make jewelry? Does it matter?
This is all really good practice...this releasing and considering and making room. I believe that when we release stuff from our physical environment we make room for whatever is next...or we allow the lightness to take us to where we might have been too heavy to go. So the question becomes not "What do I have to leave behind"...but "What decision am I willing to make that will allow me to move on"?
This is a great spiritual practice...to consider the choice I am willing to make in order to be lighter...maybe even happier, more grateful and at ease. The 'stuff of our life' can bog us down, and so can the judgments and blame and jealousy that we hold in our hearts. The practice of considering and releasing is one that we can apply to the 'stuff' in our environment and to the 'stuff' in our heart.
What decision could you make today that would make you feel lighter, happier and ready to move on? Release it, let it go...and feel the freedom, the room, the opening...to a new possibility.
Practice well.
Peace Always,
Paula

At 7:00 p.m. we will close our vigil with praise and thanksgiving for all that is happening as a result of our faith and commitment. All items placed on the altar can be picked up at the close of this service - any items not picked up then will be held in the office for you to claim at a future date.

WOW!
Because love cannot keep silent, we will bear witness. Because love reaches out, we will join hands with our partners. Because love is sacred, we will worship together. Because love delights in friendship, we will celebrate together. Because love opens us at the core of our being, we will learn, we will be moved, we will be changed. Because love is strong, we will prevail. Not today. Maybe not next week or next month. But love is stronger than fear. Love is stronger than hate. Love is not afraid. Love is tough. Love endures. We will prevail.

Greetings my Unity Family,
I am writing to share some exciting news. I have been accepted into a 10 month program to receive my certification as a Spiritual Life Coach. It is through the Institute for Spiritual Development founded by Iyanla Vanzant. Unfortunately, financial aid is not available and I am in need of support in order to meet this financial obligation. I have created an account on Go Fund Me to campaign for scholarship funds. Take a look at the link below and support my cause if you can.

FEATURE ARTICLE
Fearing Pain
Excerpt from an interview with Caroline Myss, Intuitive, Teacher, and Author, by Amy Beal, Prevention, September, 2013
"If your looking for a soulful reality check, you've come to the right place." Amy Beal
Some pain (emotional or physical) is essential. Like the pain that's caused when you do something stupid, (or the emotional pain of change), or the pain that happens in your body to alert you that you're sick.
You cannot simultaneously hold the beliefs that life is about learning and that life is only about pleasure, that if you're uncomfortable, you're doing something wrong. Life is not a fancy hotel where you get to order up a special pillow because it's all about comfort.
Pain is a indicator, a signal that says, "Stop and look at this; something is hurting you, and you must do something about it". And yet so many people ignore pain (or dissatifaction). Why? Because we're terrified of the truth. We can't stand it.
Truth is the greatest change agent in life; as soon as you know the truth about something, you have to make a choice. As soon as you admit the truth..."I'm not happy here" or "This hurts"...you have to do something about it. Nothing stays the same when truth comes out.
"I teach because I so respect the fields of mysticism, spirituality, and truth." Caroline Myss |
