Herb Pierson Speaks

After 30 years in management and community organizing, 15 years teaching in Universities and sharing the Unity message, Herb Pierson is at home "on the road again." Herb's enthusiastic style and well considered viewpoints open his audience to their splendor and Grace. Herb helps us feel the God of our Being now and inspires us to recognize God everywhere Present.

Truth Talk:  "Experiencing God Now".  God is not an abstract idea or some future delight.  God is an experience and it is always available...toll-free, without exception.  The Experience of God is often so simple, we have it and don't even recognize it.  Here's to noticing our Blessings!

 spotlight               PAULA'S PERSPECTIVES

Hello Unity Spiritual Life Center! Hello Durham! Hello Unity Truth students! Hello children of God!

I am excited about the journey we are beginning. It is a path that we have been walking all of our lives...and now in this precious moment we get to walk along together. I hope that you all feel a renewed sense of possibility and a confidence in a greater power to guide us along the way.

One of my favorite and most memorable quotes from Charles Fillmore is "I fairly sizzle with zeal and enthusiasm and I spring forth with a mighty faith to do the things that ought to be done by me."

Wow...are you ready to sizzle with zeal and enthusiasm? Are you committed to putting that mighty faith to work to do what is yours to do? USLC is about Building Community and Transforming Lives. This community is YOUR community and the life you are transforming is YOUR life! If this is really what we are about...then I am extending an invitation to you to SHOW UP and OPEN UP. Show up...engage in a new possibility for your life and commit yourself to being a part of a vibrant and positive community. Open up...let your heart open wide to unlimited potential, growth, and challenge.

Don't do this for USLC...or for me...do it for you! Do it because, as a dear friend once said to me, you are tired of being moved but not changed. Do it because you know that there is a greater way to be in the world. Do it because there is something missing in your life. Do it because you are ready for a change. Do to because you don't want to travel the path alone. Do it because every fiber of your being is urging you to do it! Show up and open up! You will be so glad that you did...and the rest of us will be ever so grateful for your willingness to be your magnificent self!

Our first opportunity to be together, your first chance to show up and open up, will be at our opening service for World Day of Prayer on Wednesday, September 11, at 7pm. We will light candles, set a sacred intention, pray and meditate. During the service we will create a sacred altar. You are invited to bring one item to place on the altar that holds a spiritual significance for you...a photo, statue, feather, stone...anything that you acknowledge as representing spirit. The altar will stay in place until our closing service on Thursday evening. Beginning at 7am on Thursday, September 12, we will hold a 12 hour prayer vigil in the sanctuary. Plan to stop by for thirty minutes, an hour or more during the day to pray, meditate and to hold sacred space for peace, wholeness, and abundance. At 7pm we will close our vigil with praise and thanksgiving for all that is happening as a result of our faith and commitment.

Show up and open up...and be transformed by the presence and power that is God in you, through you, and as you. I fairly sizzle with zeal and enthusiasm, and I spring forth with a mighty faith to do the things that ought to be done by me.

And so it is.

Peace always.

WOW!

The reason we have seasons, and perhaps the reason we have life at all, is because the planet is tilted on its axis, at 23 and 1/2 degrees.  Fortunately, we inhabit a world that's cockeyed, off center, more than slightly askew.  Half of each year, we lean toward the sun; the other half, we're tipped away...If the planet were vertically centered, straight up and down, there would be no change, no seasonal variation, no recurring dance between the blossom and the bee.

Meet It With Faith

An excerpt from Meet It With Faith

by Martha Smick

We may say: "But where is the supply to come from?  How can my good be increased?"  The supply of Spirit, the riches of the kingdom, come through us, not to us.  This is one of the most important truths that we need to realize.  The way of increase and enrichment is through expanding our consciousness of God as provider, through expanding our consciousness of ourselves as inheritors of the kingdom.  This expansion does not come by just wishing for it.  It comes through prayer, through enlarging and increasing of our awareness of the power of God within us, through the awareness of our oneness with our source, our oneness with supply.
