Rev. Richard Talley Speaks

Rev. Richard Talley, ordained at Unity Village in 1993, has followed several career callings.  He earned degrees in microbiology and medical technology and worked at KU Med Center and the VA near Kansas City.  Then he taught himself stained glass and operated three retail shops and a wholesale distribution center for many years.  His art glass has been shown and sold around the world in galleries, in residences, in churches, and at art shows.  After serving with his wife as co-minister in Santa Fe, Omaha, Indianapolis, and other spiritual centers, he is now working towards a doctorate in psychology on creativity at Saybrook University.

MOVING ONWARD AND UPWARD!!

Our long wait is over!!  Your Board of Trustees met with Paula Zabkar today.  Negotiations are complete and the contract, as amended, has been approved.  The contract will be revised, as agreed, and sent to Paula for final approval.  She will attend the August Board meeting and officially sign it at that time.  Paula will officially begin as our new Spiritual Leader on September 9th, with her first Sunday Service on September 15.  This is definitely a time for celebration!  The Board now eagerly embraces plans for a "welcome" reception, celebrating our new and bright future with Paula leading the way.

The Board wishes to express its gratitude for those who assisted in the search pocess and, also, to everyone for your patience as we travelled this road together...a door is closing and a new one is opening.

And so it is!

USLC Treasure Map!

Magic Wand

Following in the vein of Catherine Ponder's treasure mapping, help us celebrate the treasures of USLC and visualize the bountiful prosperity yet to come. In lieu of an actual event on the first Friday in August, the Creativity & Play Ministry director, Robin Johnson, will be creating a collage Treasure Map for USLC.In order to do this, she needs the visions and goals of all USLC members and friends. Share any words (e.g. love, peace), images :-), or concepts (e.g. hundreds of members) that best represent what you want to see in USLC's future in the way that is easiest for you...via e-mail to

reallyveryhappy@gmail.com, snail mail to USLC, or in person at USLC (you can give them to Carla Garcia or Robin Johnson or place

them in the Creativity & Play Ministry box in the hospitality area).

Due to the large number of ideas expected, limit submissions to 3-5 per person (extra items will be considered if space is available).

Submit your treasures no later than Sunday, August 11

Let's create the brilliant future of USLC!

WOW!

LOVE

Love is the opposite of fear.  Love is that fire that does not destroy, whereas fear is the fire that burns everything it touches.

When we align our intent with love, we can do whatever we want.  There is no doubt that we will become the person we were meant to be.  This is true for everyone.

Greetings my Unity Family, I am writing to share some exciting news.  I have been accepted into a 10 month program to receive my certification as a Spiritual Life Coach.  It is through the Institute for Spiritual Development founded by Iyanla Vanzant.  Unfortunately, financial aid is not available and I am in need of support in order to meet this financial obligation.  I have created an account on Go Fund Me to campaign for scholarship funds.  Take a look at the link below and support my cause if you can.  www.gofundme.com/LifeCoachScholarship

choices CAUSE AND EFFECT

Excerpt from Point of Power by Paul Hasselbeck

Cause and effect are never separated in the experience of life's events.  Once this is realized, true change and healing can occur.  Once this is realized, power is realized to be where it has always been, inside.

I am sure you have heard the phrase, "he or she pushes my buttons".  Nobody pushes our buttons except ourselves.  It seems when something happens, it causes a reaction within us.  The ideas, thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes we hold determine our reactions and responses.  When something happens, it is what we think about it (the cause) that gives rise to the reaction within us (effect)

As long as we believe the cause is outside, we are victims of the world and we are powerless to do anything about it.  In essence, no healing can occur.  After all, what can we do if something happening external to us is actually causing our reaction or response?  This separation of cause and effect is critical to maintaining the status quo of our personalities.  This keeps us stuck in our old patterns.

As long as we believe the cause is outside, we are victims of the world.

As long as cause and effect seem to be separated, we are helpless to resolve the effect.
