Herb Pierson Speaks
After two careers of business management and university teaching, Herb Pierson began a personal ministry to share ancient spiritual wisdom with good doses of laughter. Herb has learned that laughter and deep learning are the yin/yang of real joy. Herb's light-hearted and enthusiastic style is backed by solid research and personal experience. Herb knows first hand God's Hand is afoot: Be still and know.
Truth Talk: "Welcome Home": We've never left either home or Paradise, except, of course, in our minds. We only need to "have a good talk with ourselves" to get back home. God is available...toll-free.

MOVING ONWARD AND UPWARD!!
Our long wait is over!! Your Board of Trustees met with Paula Zabkar today. Negotiations are complete and the contract, as amended, has been approved. The contract will be revised, as agreed, and sent to Paula for final approval. She will attend the August Board meeting and officially sign it at that time. Paula will officially begin as our new Spiritual Leader on September 9th, with her first Sunday Service on September 15. This is definitely a time for celebration! The Board now eagerly embraces plans for a "welcome" reception, celebrating our new and bright future with Paula leading the way.
The Board wishes to express its gratitude for those who assisted in the search pocess and, also, to everyone for your patience as we travelled this road together...a door is closing and a new one is opening.

USLC Treasure Map!

Following in the vein of Catherine Ponder's treasure mapping, help us celebrate the treasures of USLC and visualize the bountiful prosperity yet to come. In lieu of an actual event on the first Friday in August, the Creativity & Play Ministry director, Robin Johnson, will be creating a collage Treasure Map for USLC.In order to do this, she needs the visions and goals of all USLC members and friends. Share any words (e.g. love, peace), images :-), or concepts (e.g. hundreds of members) that best represent what you want to see in USLC's future in the way that is easiest for you...via e-mail to
reallyveryhappy@gmail.com, snail mail to USLC, or in person at USLC (you can give them to Carla Garcia or Robin Johnson or place them in the Creativity & Play Ministry box in the hospitality area).
Due to the large number of ideas expected, limit submissions to 3-5 per person (extra items will be considered if space is available).
Submit your treasures no later than Sunday, August 4
Let's create the brilliant future of USLC!

Isn't it great to know that our inner experiences of outer events don't choose us but that we choose them?
It is important to watch the thoughts we hold in our minds and change them when they do not reflect what we want to experience.

FEATURE
Why Settle for Ordinary? by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer and Eckhart Tolle
Wayne: Most of us were raised to believe we are ordinary. We aren't raised to believe in our extraordinariness, our divinity. This ordinary part of us, the ego, is the part that insists that we are what we have, what we do, what other people think of us. It tries to convince us we are separate. In truth, we are born perfect and then snatched out of that perfection and programmed into accumulating and achieving. We never get back to the extraordinary part of ourselves because the ordinary part thinks we are having a successful life. But beyond ordinary is the extraordinary-what we call the "soul." That formless, invisible, birthless, deathless, infinite part of us only wants to expand and grow. We need to address this infinite, no-limits part of ourselves.
Eckhart: This brings us to the ideas of "being" and "doing." As human beings, we are called upon to act, to create. We are part of this universe's love of creating form. But the universe also wants to know its own essence through us and that is realized by our drive to be totally content and at peace in the present moment, to seek that state of absolute, beautiful, deep peace. The outgoing movement of the universe is wanting to create and the return movement is the universe wanting to know itself through the human. Yes, we want to do things, but not to lose being while we do them, not to lose ourselves in the doing. Can we remain rooted in being and act from there rather than acting from the needs of the ego? The essence that is timeless and infinite in everyone is "being." Conscious union with that can lead to "awakened doing."
Wayne: The great saint in India, Muktananda, was asked, "What is real?" He replied, "What is real is that which never changes." When looking for what is real and unchanging about ourselves, we can apply this definition. Who are we? We certainly aren't our bodies because those are changing constantly. So the real you is that which keeps occupying new bodies-from infant to toddler to teen to adult. There is an unchanging spark from the Creator in each of us, our highest self, a piece of God. And we are all connected. Eckhart, when I saw you in conversation with Oprah recently, I realized how important it is for all of us to be "aware" and living from an "awakened" state. We have an impact on every person we encounter.
Eckhart: All the people you encounter will be impacted. Your state of consciousness gets transmitted to others. One negative person can create a chain reaction of negativity in others. In the same w
ay, a conscious person can dissolve streams of negativity. You affect the underlying collective field of human consciousness. I feel sure that you affect countless others that you never even meet, the collective consciousness of humanity.
