3 Things to Consider When Buying Art for Your Bathroom
Greetings!

Tired of the winter and ready for a change? The Outer Banks is a really fun place to visit this month. There is the St Patrick's Day Parade on March 13th and Taste of the Beach from March 17-20.  Easter is on the 27th and you can find interfaith sunrise worship events on the beach. We look forward to seeing you.

Here is a great new article for you to enjoy, Horses in Art: A Dynamic Relationship between Humans and Animals.

3 Things to Consider When Buying Art for Your Bathroom
Splash, Splash, by Lynn Ponto Peterson
I love art. It makes each room unique and the beauty of it brings joy to my life. So yes, art does belong in the bathroom. After all, we do spend time there every day.

Bathrooms do present a little different challenge than other rooms. They are generally smaller plus there is a humidity factor to consider.

One consideration is if it is a half bath or a full bath. There usually is not a humidity factor in a half bath, so most works of art will work perfectly here. Just make sure that the art is within a scale so that it is not as big or bold as to overpower the room or is too small and delicate to visually fade away.

Humidity is the next consideration. Steamy showers and baths can be fun but they are not good for art that is under glass. The glass is there to protect the art but condensation can build up in high humidity areas. The condensation can stain the art.  Some better options might be art on gallery wrapped canvas or ceramic wall sculpture. Metal wall sculpture can pit and start to rust in this atmosphere.

The last consideration concerns the products that we use in the bathroom. Hair spray can be very detrimental to the art. It can spot, stain and peel the paint. It is important to keep the art out of range or direction of such products.

Just keep these few considerations in mind and you will be able to enjoy your art everywhere in your home for years to come.  Splash, Splash is a watercolor painting by Lynn Ponto Peterson.
