LLFLas Lomitas Education Foundation

The 2015-16 Annual Giving Campaign has launched!
Donate online now at
The Annual Giving Campaign is the Foundation's mission-critical fundraising effort, directly supporting the LLESD's operating budget to help provide "excellence in education" at our schools.  This year, we are asking for a donation of $2,000 per student. If you are unable to give this amount, any amount that is meaningful to your family will help us reach our goal of 100% community participation.
We highly encourage - and greatly appreciate - gifts made before December 31, 2015 to assist the School Board with their budget planning.  Thank you in advance for your support!

PTA News
Please order your ART NOTECARDS

Each year Las Lomitas participates in a PTA Fundraiser for the Arts in our schools. Notecards are made from your children's drawings which were completed during the month of September. Funds from the sale of these notecards are used by classrooms for field trips, visiting artists, musicians, speakers, art supplies and literature about the arts. The notecards make terrific gifts for friends and families, thank you notes, and enclosure cards for birthdays. The printed notecards (with matching envelopes) will be delivered to the classrooms by end of November/early December. The order forms will be coming home on Monday October 5th.

This year we are only accepting PayPal (no checks) for purchases.  The payment MUST BE SUBMITTED Online by Friday, October 9th.  Please visit the PTA website for payments. Unfortunately, late orders cannot be accepted due to the early release for Thanksgiving.

Questions? Please contact Laaya Khamsi (
Thank you to all the teachers and volunteers who help make this possible and to the generous parents for supporting the creative arts in our schools.

The Apple for the Classroom program is a way for parents to
support their children's teachers directly.  All the teachers and specialists at Las Lomitas have been invited to create a "wish list" of items that would help to further enrich their classrooms.  Wishes may include arapplelogot supplies, gift cards, books, or donations toward a special activity or field trip.
To view the lists, please visit our website:
Once at the site, select the list you want to view. Teachers' lists are divided into two sections, so you can choose to bring an item directly to the classroom or you can choose to make a donation via PayPal.
Thank you for supporting our teachers and enriching your children's experience at Las Lomitas.

This PTA-sponsored project is a perennial favorite of the children.
We cannot make this project happen without the parent volunteers who support it every year, in the classroom, around school or as an organizer.  There are many roles in which you can help, based on the amount of time you are able to contribute.   No fancy cameras are required.

Take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to help capture memories for your child at school!

Classrooms:   Classroom pages consist of less then 20 photographs and can be gathered over six months, when you are in the classroom volunteering already, chaperoning field trips or just simply by spending a free morning in the class or on the playground, taking pictures of the kids.
School photographers and editors -- get front row seats at all the school events!    Take pictures for school events, on the playground and help showcase our wonderful specials and PTA events.   Simply upload your photos and you are done!  This will all be done via sign-up so only sign up for what you can commit to based on your schedule.

General editors and organizers - The production aspect of the project is more efficient then ever.   All of the editing work is done online using pre-set templates and the software is drag and drop so it's very easy to use.   Or sign up to help manage a specific aspect of book content such as cover contest, etc.

Please help make this beloved end-of-school event a reality for our children, parents and teachers...keep the memory book running and volunteer by sending an email to

Box Tops for Education

Please continue to clip, collect, and submit box top coupons found on many favorite brands such as Betty Crocker, Nature Valley, Kleenex, Huggies, Ziploc, and so many more. Las Lomitas earns 10 cents for each box top submitted, and these really add up! Box tops can be turned in any time to the cereal box in the Las Lomitas office. Write your student's name and room number on the bag containing the box tops to be eligible for our prize drawing which will be held October 15.  Thank you for supporting our school!

LLLLas Lomitas League

Registration for the LLL Basketball Season opens Thursday, October 1st at 7:00 pm! This is a very popular winter sport that is open to all students in 3rd through 8th grade. Register early before divisions are full. Registration closes at midnight on Thursday, October 15th.

NEW THIS YEAR: we will register 8-10 players per team. Once a division is full (based on number of coaches), we will start a wait-list and only add more players if we get more coaches to form another team. Register early and volunteer to coach!

Evaluations are the third weekend in October and coaches announce their teams a week later. Practices begin in mid-November, games begin in early December and the season ends in early March. Division coordinators will contact parents with more information towards the end of the month. Additional information about the basketball program can be found on our website
Coaches Wanted! We are a parent-run basketball league and we need coaches.
You do not need a lot of experience to coach; we can pair you with a more experienced coach. We also provide an excellent coaching clinic. Please contact  Kathleen Liston if you are interested in coaching.
Grade-Level Coordinators Wanted! We are still looking for grade-level coordinators for the following divisions: 3rd, 4th, and 7th grade girls and 5th and 7th boys. We will need a coordinator to form teams so kids can play in these divisions. Please offer to volunteer when you sign-up. If you have any questions please contact Kathleen Liston
Mark your calendars for the following dates:
  • Wed, Oct. 21st at 6:30pm: Mandatory Coaches in the La Entrada library. We will choose practice times and review rules, expectations, evaluations, etc. Practice times are selected based on coach availability and a lottery system.
  • Oct. 24th& 25th (Sat/Sun): Player Evaluation Days (schedule to be determined). Evaluations are used strictly to divide each grade level into fair and balanced teams. Your child's grade/division will be assigned a specific day and time closer to the date. Please check back here or on the LLL Basketball webpage in mid October.
