We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!  We are certainly fortunate to live in the extraordinary Las Lomitas Elementary School District, with its 30-year legacy of dedicated community support for high quality education.  Thank you so much to all families who have already contributed to the Annual Giving Campaign!

It is now the Season of Giving.  The annual LLEF gift to our District is simply fundamental and essential to the achievements of our schools and students, and if you have yet to make your gift, please donate now!

The parent volunteers of LLEF have been working hard for months to raise the vital money upon which our schools rely.  The first LLEF Phone Appeal will take place next week - but we certainly hope you will donate before then, and save us the call!

As a reminder, we need to raise $2,000 per student, with 100% participation, to reach our

fundraising goal of $2.8 million.

It is critical that every family contribute.  If you can't give at the requested level, please give an amount that is meaningful and comfortable for your family.  Every donation counts.

And if you can, please GIVE MORE this year - There are still funds available to double the increased portion of your gift with a dollar-for-dollar match from the $200,000 Challenge Grant

PLEASE DONATE TODAY!

From the Principal

Dear Las Lomitas Families,

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving vacation filled with family and friends. The two days prior to break were very productive for our teachers. Every minute was filled with learning and planning!

In addition to our certificated classroom and support teachers, we have many paraeducators here at Las Lomitas working in a variety of capacities. Formerly known as classroom aides, paraeducators instruct and inspire students. Las Lomitas paraeducators provide instructional support in the Language Lab, library, Computer Lab, Math Lab, physical education classes and regular classrooms, as well as on the playground. These remarkable employees work under the direction of, and in collaboration with, classroom teachers and administrators to meet students' needs. Mary Anne Nielsen, Director of the Diagnostic Center at the California Department of Education wrote: "They (paraeducators) are our link to the community, role models for our students, job coaches, academic and/or technology tutors, disciplinarians, surrogate parents, playground supervisors, translators and mediators. They are key members of the teaching team." We are very fortunate to have such talented paraeducators as part of the teaching team at Las Lomitas. Hats off to them!

Until next time,
Sue

Session Requests for 2015-2016 ~ RETURNING FAMILIES ONLY

If you have a current kindergarten or first grade student and wish to move to first session next year, you must put that request in writing to Mrs. Sartor. She will begin taking requests by letter or email starting at 10:00 p.m., January 1, 2015. You may email her at ssartor@llesd.org. No requests will be honored prior to this date and time. Your requests will be placed on a wait list in order received.

New family requests are not accepted until February 1, 2015, allowing our returning families to have priority on the wait list.   If you are on this year's wait list, you must make a new request for next year. We do not "roll over" the list from year to year. Please call Mrs. Sartor if you have any questions about the session request process.
