Your donation makes the critical difference

Academic performance is strongly correlated to smaller class sizes and the amount of individualized attention teachers are able to provide each student. Your donation contributes to salaries for teachers, aides and counselors and supports vital programs, including drama, art, foreign languages and computer science. The continued excellence of our schools is made possible through your support.  For more information please see our Community Report online here

Excellence is built one donation at a time

Yes on S

Yes on Measure S - we are off to a great start, but we need your help!

Dear Las Lomitas and La Entrada Families,

Thank you volunteers for your valuable time at the phone banks the last two weeks!   We've received a lot of positive support, but we still need to reach many voters who don't have school-age children and encourage them to vote and vote in support of Measure S.

Here are a couple of things we can all do to make this a successful measure:

1. Vote early!  Below is a vote by mail form specific to the November 5 election.  Feel free to share it with friends and neighbors in the district to make voting easy (the county office needs to receive it by October 29th via fax, email or mail).

I want to vote early: click here.

2.  Volunteer!  Please consider one night at the phone bank or helping post yard signs on September 28th and 29th.

I want to volunteer at the phone bank: click here.
I want to help post yard signs: Diana Sunshine at sunshine@onderdonk.net

We look forward to seeing  you!

From the Principal

Dear Las Lomitas Families,

Thank you to all of you who are stopping in the Office to sign in and get a badge before going onto campus. This is required whenever students are on campus. Student hours are 8:30 a.m. - 3:40 p.m. Thank you, too, for being patient at the flagpole area, especially at dismissal on Wednesdays. I've heard several comments from parents about our increased diligence and security on campus. It takes all of us working together to make our school as safe as possible.

Along the topic of dismissal, please be sure that you provide a written note if your child's dismissal plans change. This is especially true now that the League classes have started. We want to avoid tears and confusion at dismissal. Your support is much appreciated!

La Entrada implemented School Loop last year to provide electronic communication between home and school. Parents who register are able to see attendance records, grades, homework assignments and individual teacher pages with specific classroom information. Las Lomitas will launch our School Loop pages on September 30th. Each teacher and specialist has created a page with information for parents. Mr. Camou and I created a home page with links to other sites and resources. Since we do not assign grades, nor is homework a nightly assignment as at La Entrada, our School Loop pages will be very similar to our webpages on the current district website. Please keep an eye out for more details about our launch.

Thank you to the parents who contacted me and Ozge Goker, PTA Hot Food Chair, and Christy Chin, PTA President about snack options for those who choose Choice Lunch. As a result of those conversations, we've added two high protein snacks to the menu option: cheese sticks and sunflower seeds. These additions give more nutritious choices for students and have minimal waste, thus meeting the two priorities we established for the program this year. I appreciate hearing from you and working together to come up with agreeable solutions.

Until next time,

Sue Sartor

Principal

All the teachers and specialists at Las Lomitas have been invited to create a "wish list" of items that would help to further enrich their classrooms.
