From the Principal

Dear Las Lomitas Families,

It is hard to believe I'm writing the last Roar article of the school year! 2012-2013 was a very productive year. It was wonderful to see so many of you at the Spring Sing last week. Mrs. Lampert put together a very entertaining program that the children clearly enjoyed performing for you!

As you all head off for summer break, we are preparing for a busy summer and the next school year. The LLESD Summer School and the Las Lomitas Summer Program will be held on our campus. Several of our teachers will be instructors in those programs. Teachers will also be attending professional development programs over the summer on a variety of topics including Common Core Standards, FOSS Science, Primary Math and New Teachers' College Writing Workshop. Although the pace will be different, there will still be a lot of activity and learning going on around here!

I hope all of you have a restful vacation, enjoying time with family and loved ones. I look forward to a bit of rest and relaxation myself. I want to thank all of you - students, parents, teachers and staff - for another wonderful year.

Until next August,

Sue Sartor

Principal

THANK YOU HOT LUNCH VOLUNTEERS!

A HUGE thank you to our amazing crew of Las Lomitas PTA hot lunch volunteers! It's been an incredible year, with a record number of lunches served (over 30,000!), all thanks to the countless contributions of day chairs, volunteers, and last-minute helpers. It takes a team each and every school day, and we're truly grateful for everyone's time, energy and support.

A very special thank you goes to the team leaders - Julie Herlihy (Mondays), Liesl Noble (Tuesdays), Stacy May and Stacy Molano (Wednesdays), Allison O'Brien (Thursdays), and Ozge Goker and Christina Baszucki (Fridays) - we couldn't do it without you!

We are continuing our relationship with Choicelunch next year and are looking forward to some new and exciting changes from them, including over a dozen new entree choices.  Examples are egg salad croissants, crunchy vegetable egg rolls and delicious creamy broccoli cheddar soup.  Another change for Choicelunch is their recent switch to Organic Eathbound lettuce to make their delicious salads even tastier.

We really appreciate you for volunteering and making this a fantastic year for hot lunch.  Remember, without your help there would be no hot lunch program for our wonderful children.  We look forward to serving over 30,000 more hot lunches next year, so please sign up at the job fair on the first day of school!

Last day of hot lunch is Friday, June 7th, so don't forget to pack a lunch for your kids on Monday, June 10th!

New Online Registration for 2013-2014 Returning Students
New Online Registration for 2013-2014 Returning Students

Las Lomitas Elementary School District is excited to announce an online student data validation and registration system for the upcoming school year, called InfoSnap. The system is a secure and green process, which allows the district to verify all student demographic, emergency and medical information for your child prior to the start of the new school year. The system will also allow you to electronically sign the annual permission forms for school district policies.

In short, this online process:

  • Replaces the annual Student Emergency Card updates
  • Replaces most the hard copy student registration needs, there will still be a need to print and return some forms
  • Offers online permission forms that your child typically brings home on the first day of school, many of which you can now "digitally" approve, and;
  • Offers you the ability to update or change any of your family or student information at anytime!

By early August, you will receive a letter with instructions on how to access the system for your children. The email will contain a link/instructions and a secure "snapcode" that links directly to your student's information. You will create an account, that you will use each year for this process, and submit a form for each student in your family. To make the process easier for families with multiple students, you will have the option to copy all generic family information to all other students in your family.

We need all returning families to complete these forms before the start of school. If you do not have access to the Internet, please contact the school and you can make an appointment to use a school computer in the library.  Again, you don't need to do anything right now. Look for our letter with instructions in early August.  If you have any further questions, please contact Suzanne Mitchell, 650-854-3962 x199 or email smitchell@llesd.org.  Thank you.
