As we start the new year, The team at LEID Products is looking forward to continued innovation and growth. We are taking our Biometric Access Control System - BACS - to the next level, moving into new markets and creating new products. Soon we will roll out our new single firearm SmartGuard Handgun Safe. Our LEIDing Edge subscribers are the first to have a sneak peek at the new technology in our 2014 event article below.

LEID also provides innovative solutions for the library market. We will be attending several Library events to showcase LEID's iLibrary self-service solution which provides public libraries with a state-of-the-art  affordable option to offer library access where demand is insufficient to support a traditional 'brick and mortar' library.

Our spotlight article this month is on one of LEID Products founders, Vice President of Engineering, Dave Foster. Dave's engineering talent and vision has been instrumental to LEID's success.

Thank you for your interest in LEID Products and we hope to meet with you at one of our 2014 events!

Best regards,

LEID Products to Showcase Latest Innovations
2014 Events Schedule

We are excited about kicking off 2014 with our attendance at the SHOT Show earlier this month in Las Vegas, NV. We took the opportunity to meet with prospective customers who are planning an upgrade to weapons and evidence storage, planning a new building, or just interested in knowing the latest innovations in technology for these areas.

SmartGuard Handgun Safe

This year, LEID Products will continue our tradition of providing the highest level of secure management and tracking of assets, weapons and evidence. We look forward to our tradeshows to share how using LEID's BACS and Access.it access control technology can improve security, emergency readiness and accountability.

We will also be rolling out a new product; see the picture to the right for a sneak peek at the BACS integrated SmartGuard Gun Safe. This biometrically accessed single firearm storage unit can be located anywhere in your facility that has a network connection to your BACS system, and is fully integrated into and controlled by the BACS system in your armory!  If you missed the SHOT Show or did not have a chance to meet with us there, here is a full listing of the conferences we plan to attend throughout the year:

  • Massachusetts Chief of Police Association (MCOPA) - Marlborough, MA, April 2
  • National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) Industry Summit - Springfield, MA, June 9-11

iLibrary Self- Service Mini Branch

LEID also provides innovative solutions for the library market. Often referred to as a 'Library Express,' the concept of a self-service mini library branch has been growing in popularity across the nation. LEID's compelling self-service solutions provide public libraries with an innovative and affordable option to provide library access where demand is insufficient to support a traditional 'brick and mortar' library. Please visit LEID at one of the Library conferences we attend:

  • Public Library Association (PLA) - Indianapolis, Indiana, March 12-14
  • Kentucky Public Library Association (KPLA) - Bowling Green, KY, April 9-11

LEIDing Edge Spotlight on LEID Products VP of Engineering
Dave Foster
Dave Foster
Dave Foster
Our sister company Patti Engineering's Vice President of Engineering, David G. Foster, was quick to offer his support for LEID Products when Sam Hoff embarked upon the journey to build a company that would provide a never before developed secure and innovative way to store law enforcement assets and weaponry. The two co-founded the business and are the driving forces behind its thriving success today.

Dave brings more than 18 years of experience in management, employee development and hiring, project planning and engineering. He has been with Patti Engineering since 1995 and LEID Products since its inception. David holds both a Michigan and Texas Professional Engineering license, as well as, a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Kettering University (GMI) in Flint, Michigan.

Dave's role at LEID Products is similar to his role at Patti Engineering - he is essentially involved in every aspect of the company. "Dave knows we rely heavily on him for both Patti Engineering and LEID Products, but the pressure never seems to get to him," said Sam Hoff, president, LEID Products. "Dave was a huge motivation in my decision to move forward in the founding of LEID Products. Once he declared interest and excitement, it made my decision to embark on the journey of opening another business very easy."

Outside of his pivotal roles in running two successful businesses, David spends time with his family and a few hobbies - working on his many rotary engine powered cars (auto racing at the SCCA Club level), and Quarter Midget racing with his two sons, Evan and Owen. He and his family - two sons and wife, Cindi - live in Clarkston, Michigan. They summer on the Great Lakes, boating, and winters are spent watching their boys play basketball.

"I love anything with an engine that floats or rolls. I developed my love of boating when I was a child, and before I could even drive a car, I was driving the boat with my father when we lived in the Cayman Islands."

During his college years, he split his time between attending GMI in Flint, MI and working as a co-op engineering student for Caribbean Utilities in Grand Cayman. He met Cindi while in college in Flint, and she visited him while he spent time in Grand Cayman during college. They were married in 1995 shortly after he joined Patti Engineering. Their children were born in 2000 and 2003.
