Greetings!
Navigating tough economic challenges, managing risk to avoid civil litigation costs and maintaining the skill sets of police professionals is a lofty challenge for law enforcement leaders. Addressing these interests, meeting the expectations of the public and effectively and efficiently using personnel constitute a critical balance.
When determining the priorities of their organizations, todays law enforcement leaders rely on professional organizations to provide educational resources, advocacy and professional development. For the campus public safety community, the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA) is the 'go-to' organization. This month's article will take a look at this organization and its annual conference taking place this weekend. LEID Products will showcase its BACS Asset Management System in Booth #201.
Our spotlight this month is on one of our own rising stars, Erik Pedersen. Erik has been a dynamic addition to the LEID team, embracing his role in business development.
Thank you for your interest in LEID Products!
Best regards,
Georgia H. Whalen

The IACLEA Delivers Value to the Campus Public Safety Community
Campus security has never been more important, and many schools are re-evaluating their readiness to handle any and all situations to ensure the safety of students, faculty, staff, and the millions of yearly visitors to colleges and universities. Adherence to the highest standards of professionalism and excellence is vital to the success of campus public safety departments in fulfilling their mission.
The International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators ( IACLEA) is the organization the campus public safety community relies on to provide educational resources, advocacy and professional development. Created by 11 college and university security directors in November of 1958 at Arizona State University, today its membership consists of more than 1,200 colleges and universities in 20 countries.
The IACLEA host an annual conference, offering campus public safety leaders the perfect venue to learn new strategies to improve campus safety. Attendees have the opportunity to attend a variety of educational sessions, workshops and roam the exhibit hall featuring vendors offering state-of-the-art products and services. Hundreds of public safety leaders and more than 100 vendors, including LEID Products, are expected to fill the show floor.
This year's IACLEA Conference, starts on Friday, June 28th and runs through Tuesday July, 2nd in Louisville, KY. LEID Products is excited to be exhibiting at this event for the first time and will be displaying the BACS Asset Management System used by university police departments to accurately control and track officers shared equipment and keys, utilizing RFID and biometric technology.
"IACLEA's Annual Conference is the largest gathering of campus public safety leaders in the world," said Chief Staff Officer Christopher G. Blake, CAE. "The IACLEA Conference provides an ideal environment for our members to learn about the innovative new products and services available to the campus public safety community. We look forward to a fun and productive show at the Kentucky Convention Center this year." |

Spotlight - Erik Pedersen
|
Erik Pedersen joined LEID Products in 2012, bringing a wealth of sales knowledge to the company to support ongoing business development efforts. "Erik's dynamic personality and broad sales background have been tremendous in supporting growth," said Sam Hoff, president at LEID Products.
Erik brings five years of sales experience to his current role. Previously, he worked for Olympia Entertainment managing premium sales. Prior to Olympia, he was responsible for corporate sales with the Detroit Pistons. He earned a Bachelor's degree in sports administration with an emphasis in business, management, marketing and communications from Cornell College. He also earned his Master's degree in education from Marietta College.
Erik first met Hoff in his previous job working in corporate sales for the Detroit Pistons. Hoff is a huge sports fan, but not a particular fan of the local NBA team. "I knew that if he could sell me Pistons tickets, he could sell anything," Hoff said.
Erik lives in Royal Oak, Michigan. He was born and raised in Janesville, WI where he built up a love of travel, sports (golf, football, running, fishing, softball, etc.) and camping. When he's not working, you can find Erik at the Red Wings or Detroit Tigers games or out on his ski boat waterskiing and wakeboarding.
Erik has been appointed to take the lead for our federal market development, a role previously handled by our fallen team member, Skip Richardson. In our last newsletter, we featured a tribute to Skip; he was a visionary, mentor, and great contributor to our team at LEID Products. True to his giving nature, Skip embraced showing Erik the ropes and mentoring Erik on how to work with the federal government and military sectors where Skip was an expert.
"I am extremely excited to have joined the LEID Products team and I look forward to really getting to know everyone," Erik said. "In my new business development role, I've truly enjoyed working closely with Skip and the rest of our team to help develop existing relationships with our current clients, as well as contribute to the continued growth of the company. The technology behind LEID's state-of-the-art asset and evidence management systems is extraordinary; the value our customers realize when using these systems is very gratifying, and it is great to be a part of that."
