Dear Friends,
Appearances to the contrary notwithstanding, I am making slow but steady progress on the manuscript -- on which it seems I have been working since the world was young.
I have however accepted some added responsibilities as a member of the College of Fellows of the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology in Berkeley. I just returned from several days at the DSPT, where I joined students and faculty for the West Coast Walk for Life, and a few days later for an extended convocation of the College of Fellows, faculty, and students.

Ron Austin Lecture at DSPT

Click on the image above to link to a very fine lecture delivered by my old friend, Ron Austin, to the faculty, students, Fellows and guests at the Dominican School during our recent days together. (NOTE: The actual proceedings begin with Fr. Michael Sweeney's introduction at 7 minutes and 45 seconds into the video.)
In early March, I will accompany several members of the College of Fellows and members of the DSPT faculty to Mexico for the first annual meeting of the Mazatlán Forum, a dialogue between DSPT representatives and a number of prominent Mexican intellectuals on social, political, and cultural issues facing both countries.
Admittedly, in addition to the time I now spend researching the themes I am addressing in the book, these new responsibilities at the Dominican School take time from the actual writing itself. As chagrined as I am that the book is progressing as slowly as it is, the opportunity to collaborate with such gifted and experienced colleagues is more than just personally enriching. It is sure to bear fruit in the final manuscript and beyond.
In the meantime, I am tremendously grateful to my old friend and Cornerstone colleague Randy Coleman-Riese for creating CDs from talks I gave many years ago, for posting regularly on our Blog and Facebook pages, and for being the anchor of our little apostolate during my seemingly endless writing project.
On behalf of myself and Randy, I want to thank you most sincerely for your many kindnesses.
With gratitude and affection,

Gil Bailie
