Classical Greek Theater Festival of Westminister College Presents Sophocles' Electra

In this 2,400-year-old Greek tragedy, Electra and her brother Orestes take vengeance on their mother and her new husband for the murder of Agamemnon, their father. Larry West directs this ancient/modern production which features a recent American translation by Marianne McDonald. Original music played live by Abby Scott. Melanie Nelson plays Electra, one of the longest and most demanding roles in Greek tragedy. The play is preceded by a brief lecture (they're always good). Bring a blanket and a picnic breakfast. We'll be there Sunday!

The Nation's Washington assistant editor will talk about librarians vs. the NSA. Zoë Carpenter has written for Rolling Stone, Guernica and the Poughkeepsie Journal, is one half of the band Tillamook Burn. She graduated from Vassar College with a degree in writing and environmental politics.

A tremendous impulse to throw caution to the wind blows through the days as well as the nights of an already bumpy week, disrupting regular routines by making sudden shifts and abrupt detours the first choice for just about anyone caught in a boring set of circumstances.
