Rocky Mountain Power is going after solar again. RMP's corporate parent, PacifiCorp, just released its proposed anti-renewables 20-year plan. And PacifiCorp's parent, Berkshire Hathaway, remains an obstacle to clean energy/clean air initiatives at the national level. Yep, it's all connected. Fortunately, citizens can intervene at each level. Presenters from UCARE (Utah Citizens for Renewable Energy), HEAL Utah, Sierra Club, Citizens' Climate Lobby and Utah Physicians for Healthy Environment will tell you how you can make a difference.

This Great Salt Lake Bird Festival field trip, led by Bob Walters & Terri Clemons, explores Memory Grove, the peregrine falcon nest at the Joseph Smith building, the 6-acre roof of the LDS Church Conference Center, and the gardens at Temple Square. All attract a variety of birds. Meet at the North Visitor's Center at Temple Square at 7 am (gate directly across from the Conference Center on North Temple St.). This field trip involves a 20-minute hike through City Creek Park. Bring binoculars, camera, water. Limit 20.
