Dear friends and family,

If you garden, you want to read the April CATALYST: There's the pullout Planting Guide, a long bit about urban permaculture, a chat with the mushroom-growing Biocentric Brothers and yoga for gardeners. Swami Beyondananda's State of the Universe address is worth reading outloud. You'll find print copies all over town. Click here, or on the cover (left).
Have a great weekend,

The theme of the night is "Dirt." Come hear stories of scandal and soil. What have you buried deep down? What do you wish you could wash your hands of? Have a burning secret you're ready to share? How is the biology in your backyard? Are you gardening, getting down, digging? What is your relationship with the musty, dusty earth? Do tell.

The Bee is lovingly competitive storytelling! Ten storytellers picked at random from a hat have five minutes each to tell us all a true tale, live onstage, on theme, without notes.
Bring your friends. Have a drink. Laugh. Cry. Bee entertained.

"The Bee" is supported by CATALYST Magazine, KRCL 90.9 FM, & Utah Humanities. Doors at 6pm. Stories start promptly at 7pm.

I left the circus about a year and a half ago. But I feel like I just stumbled into a new travelling circus. Poutine Your Mouth, a food truck from Salt Lake City that serves the French Canadian food, poutine, is en route to its first festivals of the season. Poutine is the food I've probably had dreams about but never knew existed; fries, gravy and cheese curds. It comes in various styles. "The Hangover" adds bacon and an egg. You had me at cheese curds and fries, but bacon seals the deal. We're on our way to the first weekend of Coachella with a motley crew made up of photographers, personal trainers, chemists, actors, returned missionaries, service industry dabblers/masters of dry humor and our resident DJ, Anthony Motto...(read more).

It's a tempestuous week here on Planet Earth, and the days as well as the nights are driven by passion and fervor, making impulse control a challenge. Too much self-indulgence just might land you in the middle of an intense situation you hadn't bargained for and aren't quite sure how to exit. But this celestial fire doesn't only spark strong reactions in individuals. It also ignites even more fanaticism in all those places already ablaze in violence. Expect eruptions-lots of them-from the personal to the political. But also know, this very same astral fire indicates an equally powerful potential for creative brilliance...(read more).
