"In the year leading up to my daughters' departure for school in Rome, I began noticing that whenever I looked at a clock, it displayed repeated numbers, with 11:11 and 4:44 most often occurring. This happened so frequently that I was compelled to research a possible meaning and found that most references explained this phenomenon as a message to 'pay attention,' so I decided to do that. As to what I needed to pay attention to was not obvious, at first."

In love with the productions of time: The HereAfterHere in film screening of Orpheus (1949) by Jean Cocteau.
Jean Cocteau's 1940s update of the Orphic myth depicts Orpheus (Jean Marais), a famous poet scorned by the Left Bank youth, and his love for both his wife Eurydice (Marie Déa) and the mysterious Princess (Maria Casarès). Seeking inspiration, the poet follows the Princess from the world of the living to the land of the deceased through Cocteau's trademark "mirrored portal." As the myth unfolds, the director's visually poetic style pulls the audience into realms both real and imagined in this, the centerpiece to his Orphic Trilogy.

A dance around the Maypole to honor the midpoint between summer and spring isn't likely this week. So don't worry if you don't feel like celebrating the start of the lusty month of May. Saturn continues to dominate the astral weather, and while some of us who chronicle the stars are committed to redefining Saturn's traditional role as the Great Inhibitor, that redefinition won't turn the significator of discipline into a sensualist anytime soon. And because Saturn always sets a somber tone, we're in for another week of earnest introspection and serious interactions....(read more).
