READER REWARDS: Concert tix & free yoga!

Dear Friends & Family,

See our picks below (you'll find many more on our website calendar).

We've been eating especially well, lately: There was SlowFood Utah's Feast of Five Senses, followed by last week's Local First fundraiser, Celebrate the Bounty. Both featured outstanding local chefs with an emphasis on "farm-to-table" --that is, local. Through Sunday you can support Utah's Refugee Coalition and enjoy some fantastic food; see below.

I hope you've already read the October issue -- there's an adoption story that reads like a detective mystery, a remembrance of our recently departed friend Brian Barnard, a look at the dance season ahead, tips on putting your garden to bed, and all the usual resources and interesting ads. Click on "Read CATALYST" above.

If a business needs a sweet space to rent (about 800 sq. ft.) at a reasonable rate, contact me:  Greta@CatalystMagazine.net

Thank you!

~Greta

Dan Kenyon shares "true" ghost stories of Utah from Dark Highway, Utah's Strange Tales. Writing in a casual, campfire-storytelling fashion, Kenyon reveals the stories of UFO's that seem to search the land, ghosts who won't let themselves move on, and creatures of every size and shape that move through the dark and defy science. Popcorn will be served. Bring your camp chairs. Books will be available ($12) for autographing.

Sat., Oct. 20, 7-9p. Ken Sanders Rare Books, 268 S 200 E. Free.

In SLC: Hector Ahumada, Michael McLane, Sandy Anderson, Marv Hamilton, Brian Kubarycz, Alex Caldiero, Andy Hoffmann, Sara Caldiero, Heather Hirschi, Steve Creson, Chris Leibow, Lance Newman, Tully Cathey, Shari Zollinger, Adam Love, Gray Thomas,
Rebecca May, and Nate Liederbach perform their own and others' works. The international 100 Thousand Poets grassroots org brings communities together to call for environmental, social, and political change within the framework of peace and sustainability.

Through Oct. 21. Oasis, Squatters, Finca, Caffe Niche, Tin Angel, Liberty Heights Fresh, Trio, Rose

Taste flavor-infused dishes prepared by chefs and Utah refugees from around the world. By purchasing the featured dish, you will be supporting Utah refuees as they enrich our communities. We tasted the Burundi offering at Tin Angel and it was fantastic. For recipes from this year's event: utahrefugee.org.

The Aquarium Age: Oct. 17-23
 --by Ralfee Finn

The planets provide the potential for greater clarity this week, and as they do, many of us are likely to experience a back-to-basics attitude that puts the routines of daily life into a new perspective. While some may experience this new view as lightning bolts of sudden realization, most of us are more likely to feel it as a subtle strengthening of insight that reinforces purpose and intention. But don't let the subtlety of this astral influence fool you into thinking that it won't have a profound effect.
