You are invited to participate in the Elwood/SOS Staffing Wage and Benefits Survey.  Each year Elwood/SOS Staffing collects data related to Wage and Benefits and compiles an annual report.

To participate in the survey, click here.

Participation is anonymous and all participants will receive a copy of the final report.  Contact information is collected in a separate database after completion of the survey.  The final report will include an analysis of starting wages and benefits for workers in the manufacturing, logistics and oil and gas industries.

The Foster Middle School Math/Science Team hosted and handily won the first meet of 2013-14 this past weekend, bettering its competitors by hundreds of points. The Dragons brought home the 1st place trophy with 4,322 points, compared with 3,977 and 3,838 points by Pine Tree and Hallsville, respectively.


The Arc of Gregg County, the East Texas Center for Independent Living (ETCIL) and Pace Opportunity Centers have joined forces to host a Movie in the Park on Saturday, November 9 at Spring Hill Park, 738 Fenton Rd. in Longview from 4-7pm.   The event is free and open to the public. Local organizations who serve people with disabilities will be on hand with information about how they serve the community.* (More at bit.ly/BizBrf)

 

Sixteen people will depart Longview on November 19th for an eight day tour of Ireland. The tour "Irish Splendor" coordinated by Collette Vacations and presented by the Longview Chamber of Commerce will include Dublin, Killarney, Cong and Tullamore. The tour will return on November 26. Hospice of East Texas has been named a 2013 Hospice Honors recipient, a prestigious award recognizing hospice agencies providing the best patient care as rated by the patient's caregiver.* (More at bit.ly/BizBrf)

 

Kristi Glover has accepted the position of Good Shepherd Medical Associates (GSMA) executive vice president and chief operating officer and began this role mid-September. In this newly created position, Glover will be responsible for the operations, growth and strategic vision of GSMA.* (More at bit.ly/BizBrf)

 

The Chamber's Annual Banquet will be January 14, 2014. Guest speaker will be Gary Hoover of Hoover's, Inc. and the creator of BOOKSTOP.   In Austin, he has worked to develop entrepreneurial thinking among local young people, helping to create a group of students who meet monthly to learn the keys to entrepreneurial success.

 
Mark the dates of April 13-16 if you are interested in joining the East Texas Coalition on their 2014 Fly-In to Washington DC and visit to Congress. This bi-annual trip happens on even numbered years. Details will be forthcoming.
