David Glasser shares news about the new Boulder studio

Yes, that's the view.

Airshow Boulder will be moving to a new facility. In the second quarter of 2016 we'll be ready to move from the studio in town to our new studio building in the Boulder foothills, gaining 1700 feet of elevation and beautiful views across Left Hand Canyon. The new site, a scenic 15-minute drive from the heart of Boulder, is in a quiet and peaceful setting. You're more likely to see fox and deer than passing cars.

Airshow has been at our Sterling Circle address for 18 years; in that time we've worked with many wonderful clients on thousands of projects, and we look forward to many more successful years.

The new building, currently under construction, is an energy-efficient SIPS structure. The mastering room is based on my current Studio C, with some interesting improvements and innovations. It will be fully-equipped for stereo and surround mastering in high-resolution PCM, analog, and DSD; lock-to-picture for Blu-ray/DVD/film work; and analog tape transfers with a wide selection of tape heads and custom Plangent replay electronics. Sam Berkow is again handling the acoustic design and I'm confident that this will be Airshow's best-sounding room yet. The equipment complement and infrastructure will be familiar to anyone who has worked with me in Studio C recently, and will be a seamless transition for my clients. Our focus will be on audio mastering and restoration, as it was when I built Airshow's first commercial mastering studio in 1990.

In the coming months we'll share more details about the new studio. We're very excited about this and look forward to working with you in 2016 and beyond.

Visit with Airshow at Folk Alliance

Feb 17- 21, over 2000 folk professionals gather in Kansas City for the 28th annual conference (and newer music camp). GM Ann Blonston is hosting a panel, 21st Century Archiving. "Music presenters tell me they are overwhelmed by the media that's generated at their events. It's what Pogo calls an insurmountable opportunity, especially when layered on top of older, fragile music collections that are at risk. We're asking our panelists and attendees to come with their favorite tips, tricks, tools and resources to share with others. This community is known for generously sharing their knowledge." The session is on Thursday, February 18 from 2:30PM - 3:45PM; check the schedule for the latest information about location.

Takoma Park chief engineer Charlie Pilzer's panel, "Studio and Production Tips and Tricks," is scheduled for Saturday, February 20 at 1:00PM. Charlie wouldn't miss the latest of the late night jams and dances.
A government boost for Colorado music makers

If you're part of the creative economy in Colorado, you should keep Colorado Creative Industries on your radar. This state agency is tasked with growing the creative sector, adding jobs and attracting new money from outside the state. What they plan to do to help musicians in Colorado will soon be spelled out in a 3- to 5-year strategic plan. Read our blog post on the project; you might find some new money!

Record and mix in Takoma Park with Don Godwin

Recording and mixing engineer Don Godwin has been busy doing sessions at our Takoma Park, MD studio - he's really been getting to know our new Allyworld room! Expect a bunch of new music coming out to feature his credits (you can see some of Don's recent client releases below).

One of Don's projects has been recording and mixing the upcoming debut solo album by DC-based guitarist John Warren. John has written some lovely pieces and came in to track them last month. Read a great write-up and see some nifty studio pics in John's blog post detailing the sessions.

If you have a recording and/or mixing project for Don we'd love to hear from you!
