Second Volume of Paramount Records Box Set Released This Week

Out on November 18, "The Rise and Fall of Paramount Records, Volume Two" covers the label's last years, 1928 to 1932, with another 800 songs including tracks by Skip James, Charley Patton, the Mississippi Sheiks and Son House, among dozens of artists.

The box set is released by Revenant and Third Man Records and once again restored and mastered in our Boulder studio by David Glasser and Anna Frick with transfers and mastering by Christopher King. Read more about the project here.

Pro Sound News Talks to Randy LeRoy About His Favorite Mastering Gear and Working on the New John Cowan CD

Pro Sound News featured a nice profile last week on Takoma Park's Randy LeRoy about some of his favorite mastering gear as well as his work on former New Grass Revival singer and bassist John Cowan's latest solo release "Sixty" which came out recently on Compass Records. Randy worked hand in hand with producer John McFee (The Doobie Brothers) to put the finishing touches on the album, which features guest stars like Leon Russell, Alison Krauss, Huey Lewis, Jim Messina, Sam Bush and Rodney Crowell.

Metadata Must-Do's from the Experts

Takoma Park studio manager Mike Petillo went to this year's Future of Music Coalition's Policy Summit in Washington, D.C. to take part in a panel on metadata and its role in today's digital sales environment. Find out what he learned about the critical (and often overlooked) aspects of metadata including what is needed for mastering and releasing your music in his latest blog post.

New Tenants in Boulder's Studio A: alcheh&hunt

Airshow Mastering in Boulder, CO is excited to announce the tenancy of alcheh&hunt, a full service music house offering original music composition, sound design, recording and final mix. Founded by music producer Elliot Hunt and composer Daniel Alcheh, alcheh&hunt's production workflow uses the talent and resources of it two facilities in Los Angeles and Boulder.

Some of their national advertising campaigns include: Coca-Cola, BMW, Ford, and Macy's. Recent project highlights include ABC's "The Bachelorette/Suave" broadcast campaign, A&E "Those Who Kill" broadcast promos, Food Network Star broadcast promos, Time Warner Cable national broadcast campaign, and campaigns for Marmot, DISH and Colorado Lottery. A&H produced the original music and music mix for United Way's "Live United-Clothesline," a Gold Hugo Winner.

A recent long-form music project is the original music score and 5.1 mix for the feature film "The Trouble With Bliss" starring Michael C. Hall, Lucy Liu, Peter Fonda, Brie Larson, and Chris Messina; the soundtrack was released on Sony Classical, nominated for a Hollywood Music in Media Award for Best Soundtrack, and won a GMA award.
