Airshow Engineers Go to Raleigh for IBMA, Client Releases Win Big at Awards
Airshow engineers Randy LeRoy and Anna Frick traveled to Raleigh, NC late last month to attend the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) conference and awards ceremony. They got a chance to catch some great live acts, attend some thought-provoking seminars, and meet and greet with friends and clients. See some photos from the trip here.
As it turns out, Randy mastered some of the biggest winners this year, including "Dear Sister" by Claire Lynch (which took home Song of the Year) and Special Consensus' "Country Boy: A Bluegrass Tribute to John Denver" which earned both Recorded Event of the Year (for "Wild Montana Skies") and Instrumental Recorded Performance of the Year (for "Thank God I'm a Country Boy"). Read more on our blog.
Congrats to all our clients who were nominated and to all the winners.

Reduce Media Losses in a Disaster
Since last fall's floods in Boulder, we've given thought to being prepared for a disaster at the studio, where we have valuable electronics, an extensive archive of our clients' projects, and media from work in progress.
Ann Blonston attended a meeting of archivists and librarians to learn how big institutions address preparedness. In this blog post she identifies some straightforward steps that any studio, label or private collector can follow to be better prepared for fire, flood or building damage.

Mastering and High-Resolution Audio
We love hearing great sounding 24-bit/96kHz mixes in our mastering studios; these days, more and more musicians and labels are wanting their audiences to hear their music in high-resolution format, too.
Check out the Library & Resources section of our site to read our newly-updated white paper "High-Res Audio's Future Lies Outside the (Jewel) Box: How to Share Your Music with Fans in High-Res" which discusses high-res formats, including HD downloads, Mastered for iTunes and vinyl cut from 24-bit masters.
